I think at least a month ahead of time is best. My second baby surprised us by being three weeks early and I hadn`t packed my bag when I went into labor. I packed the bag before going to the hospital and arrived 40 minutes before she was born - no time for antibiotics (I was strep b positive) or an epidural or anything. Fortunately she was fine, but with my next two I decided that if I went into labor without my bag being packed I`d go straight to the hospital and have my husband get what I needed later. Nothing in the bag was that important to me.

I just made my list two weeks ago. I am 32 weeks. I bought what i needed and now everything is packed except for the things that I will need to put in that day.

i have to pack two bags, one for me and one for my daughter, who is staying with my mum while we are in the hospital in labor, so the hardest thing is deciding whats important enough to pack, but not so important as to not need it NOW:)

WIth my first I didn`t pack my bag untill I was in labor. This time I am 37 weeks and still haven`t packed my bags. I have a list of everything that I am bringing and keep adding things to my list. I figure when I am in labor that is when I will pack.

pack ur bag and leave it in the car...makes it very handy...:)
