twinstwice (286 days ago)Despite your baby already being the right weight to turn around you have to wait until the 1 year mark as well. Our babes outgrew their infant car seats so we had to buy bigger ones that could go rear facing as well as forward facing once they hit the year mark.
mommy-2-B (290.3 days ago)One year AND 20 lbs in NH too!
tto (292 days ago)Oh, I think the age thing has something to do with the development of their body muscles, etc. to handle the impact of a crash. So you probably wouldn`t want to turn him around too early.
tto (292 days ago)Definetly check the laws- it is law here too (KS, USA) that they have to be one yr old and twenty pounds. You can change them to a front facing type carseat but still keep them rear facing if he has outgrown the carrier type. I think they need to be made specifically to face front and rear.
emy (292.3 days ago)I actually believe there are different laws in different states. in Delaware I believe he has to face the back until he is one AND a certain weight
minxlynx (292.4 days ago)most car seats say they need to be at least 9 months old and weigh over 20lbs. my daughter didn`t go into one until she was about 17 months, as she didn`t reach 20lbs till then.
roosa (292.4 days ago)We had heard that they do research in Sweden (a country very much into safety) that shows that a child`s neck is really not strong enough for a bad accident until they are about two. The head is too heavy for the neck to be supported well if you brake hard. Basically we waited until our son could no longer stretch out his legs facing backwards, at 19 months.
