i did for the first couple of days and it was going really well...until baby had to go under the UV light for a couple of days for her jaundice...which made her really sleepy and she wouldnt feed unless it was bottle...got home n tried to express but just wasnt gettin enough in the end i was just gettin 2 stressed out so put her on formula...im happy with tht shes the perfect weight and healthy as!

I had major difficulties in the beginning. Baby couldn`t get a good latch and wasn`t gaining weight. Was told by Ped to supplement with formula so that he could gain properly. Then, had major stress issue, supply was going down. I bought a pump ($300). My supply kept going down no matter what I did which added to my stress. Eventually was only getting 1 oz a day so I gave it up. Essentially, I say try as hard as you can if you decide to BF, but be prepared for the worse and do not beat yourself up if it doesn`t work out. There are SO MANY PEOPLE who will do that for you (even some on this site). Use all resources out there for ideas and advice. (Including spending $$ on a lactation specialist because formula is $30 a can and the $70 it would have cost me to have a private consultation would have been well worth it) If needing to pump, rent one first. I`m now stuck with a $300 pump that I can`t use. Good luck.
