Umm..I changed my mind...Dah-vin is not at all what I was asking.Is it a short a or a long a sound? I like the short a sound.

If it`s prounounced Dah-vin I love it if it`s Day-vin...not so much. If you live in Ireland...keep the original spelling. But I am glad you dumb-dumbed the spelling for us Americans reading it, because I never would have gotten it right, and still am unsure, because I`ve never heard it before :0)

Thanks all for your comments! And thanks MelissaJoanne; we won`t be dumbing it down -- we are Irish, we live in Ireland, we love the Irish language, and Daibhin is pronounced `davin` in english. Like my name is pronounced `Neev`. I am not changing the spelling of that just in case I might go to america sometime!!! thanks for opinions

If you live in Ireland- then it`s fine. If you live in the States, good luck. Your kid will suffer many mispronunciations.
