Baby-poll poll Realistically....how many packs (what size packs) of newborn diapers do I need? I don`t want to have to go shopping for a few weeks and want to have a good supply on hand but I don`t want to get too much either. I`m pretty sure my baby won`t be over 7 1/2 pounds just by his weight so far so I don`t know how long they stay in them? Also, I`m very funny about keeping them totally dry 24/7 if that helps. This is my first. Thanks for commenting...

My BFF just had a 9lb 7oz baby girl. She used newborns only until the cord fell off. So one pack is prob. fine to start with. Or get three just in case and exchange them later if you need to.

Get at least one pack and see how many you need. It`ll depend on the size of your baby. I`ve used newborn for all four of my babies. My youngest is now almost six weeks old and still in newborn and probably will be for a bit. She was 6 lbs 15 oz when born and exactly one pound more at one month old. Don`t worry too much, you can always exchange sizes if you have too many and if you need more someone will be able to get to the store. And one pack lasts almost one week.

My first never used them.

With my first I only used one pack and the second one I went through 3 so just buy one big one to start with!! JUST IN CASE

I would get one SMALL pack of diapers... my kids were 8.4 and 8.7 and neither of them last a week in them. they usually dont stay in new borns very long at all....

I would say buy one BOX and then see what size they are on next! But they should move on after the whole box is done.

it really depends on your baby ie how fast they grow and how much they pee and pooop. my son didnt even fit in newborns till he was month old and wore them for 2 months.. where as some babies are out of newborns by a month old.

i wrote this same poll couple weeks ago. Im guessing my baby will be btwn 7-8lbs. I got so many newborn diapers for my shower and I decided to keep only 1 package of 40. the size 1 starts at 8lbs and everyone keeps telling me they would fit from the day shes born and i dont even have to keep the newborns. i would get a pack, and opt into getting more size 1`s.

My daughter was 6lbs at birth, we had a pack of newborn diapers and several of size 1. In the hospital they used the size 1 and they fit ok. We used the newborn until we were out and then she started size 1.

well honestly, for my 1st i had 1 huge box (about 200ct)of newborn diapers & then a medium sized box(about 90ct.) & that was really all i needed. by the time i ran out which was about a month and a half later, he weighed more & could easily fit comfortably in size 1 diapers. i got so many diapers from my baby shower i didn`t start buying diapers til my son was about 6 months old. best tip i can give you, is don`t go over board on newborn diapers before u know it your baby will fit fine in size 1. use your instincts when its time to go up a size. this was my 1st child & before he was born i was like omg how will i know when he`s too big for his diapers, & honestly, you just know. you can tell. good luck =)
