captshelley (1398.1 days ago) Contractions don`t always start in your back and they don`t always leave you breathless. I never felt a contraction in my back from the point of my first contraction until the baby was delivered. The contractions that left me breathless and speechless were the ones when I was already dilated past 5cm. The only way I knew I was having contractions was because they didn`t go away and became consistent. Braxton Hicks come and go but shouldn`t be painful, maybe uncomfortable, but not painful. Your muscles could be stretching, you could have gas or indegestion.
Sadielady (1398.1 days ago) braxton hicks arent always painless and real ones arent always painful.. call you doctor.
my7thbabyduemay20th2008 (1398.2 days ago) Now, not all contractions start in the back and move around to the front. I have had six children, and I have only experienced this happening in a couple of my labours, usually I felt a severe stretching over my cervix, and a immense pressure downwards from the contractions of the uterus. I have felt painful bh contractions as well, so no, they are not always painless.
Gassy pains can be to do with your colon, but if you are due, and they are coming in a pattern, frequently, and lasting 40-60 seconds long, then I would call my ob or midwife to see what they say. We are all different, although there is a general rule to contractions and how they are felt, many women feel them differently than the written law.
Hope this helps;)
