mommy-2-b`s poll Show results | Hide results

Pregnancy-poll poll I am due on Monday, and doc says it looks like it will be a c-section. I am worried about breastfeeding as I am not even leaking colostrum, and can`t squeeze any out either. Anyone had a c-section and no leaking prior to birth and been successful at breastfeeding. I really want to breastfeed, but am worried, as I don`t leak at all! Please comment!

you will be fine. if you are worried, there are so many great books out there to assist with feeding, and there are good lactation councilers too. just be confidant, you can feed your baby

I had an emergency c-section, 1 week before my dute date. I hadnt been leaking anything either, but I have been breastfeeding for 9 weeks now. It did take a few days for the milk to really come in, but since then I have had no problems getting enough. (And Ihave a 14 pound boy who eats a ton!) So don`t worry, just let your body do its thing.

I didnt have a c section but I never leaked or was able to squeeze anything out until after I had the baby. She is a month old and I am still bf so everything is going good.... my friend had her baby 2 days after me and had a c section and she never leaked anything either and she is still breastfeeding. I think you will be fine. Just don`t give up trying, I had to give her formula and try bf for the first few days cause she wouldnt latch on. Good Luck

i dont think its the same thing but my baby was early and my milk hadnt come in yet.. he wouldnt latch on either so i pumped and pumped and pumped until it finally came out. it will come in,, just keep baby on breast or pump constantly. good luck!

my friend had a c-section and she was able to breastfeed for atleast a month. i didnt have a c-section and i just chose to stop breastfeeding after about 6weeks. i had only leaked 1x before i had my son-it does come natural. just make sure you tell your drs` that you are breastfeeding so they dont give him a bottle right away.

(()) Whether you leak or not has no bearing on whether or not you will be able to BF and have enough milk. Some leak prior to delivery and some after ~ And both successfully BF. If you dont have enough milk even a week after delivery it will not have anything to do with a C section or if you leaked prior to delivery ~ ((()))

i didnt have a c section but i know that not leaking doesnt mean u wont have milk. and having a c section doesnt mean that either. just keep feeding all the time and ull be just fine :)

As soon as you start breast feeding your body responds, they should make you feed even when the baby is not asking for food as it will help stimulate the milk flow, The bodt was not quite ready for birth when given a c-section so sometimes it can take a little longer than if you had already gone into labour. However you should not have any problem, just feed as often as you can and soon the milk will flow perfectly. If you have any other questions regarding your c-section let me know I have had 2 and getting a 3rd this fall... you will be fine

  1. Does anyone have a baby with a double-first name? Like David-James? My friend wants to give her baby a double name but she isn`t sure how to fill it out on the birth certificate. She wants it to be David-James and that is what she will call him but she also wants to give him a middle name. Does she need to put a hyphen? We would appreciate any help with this as no one seems to know. Thanks
