magnolia76 (1366.5 days ago) I`ve had two spinals because of c-sections. My 1st one wore off faster, than my 2nd. I could move my feet after the 1st about a hour later, but still pretty numb feeling for a couple hours. With my 2nd it was several hours I would say around 4-5 before I could move my feet. With both I wasn`t up walking until the next day. They didn`t make me lay flat afterwards with either one.
RobinG (1370.7 days ago) I`ve had 2 sections ~ both were spinals ~ I was moved to recovery and they checked my legs every few minutes til I was able to move them ~ then they gave me pain meds. It took about 45 minutes to wear off. They would sit me up to hold me son and talk to hubby then lay me down to massage my uterous/tummy then sit me back up ~ I was moved to my room and able to sit up ~ they removed my cath within 6 hours and had me out of bed approx 8 hours after delivery ~ I was never required to lay flat and never got a spinal head ache ~ epi`s have been know to have a higher chance of failing or partially working ~ A section is major surgery, you will not want to walk before 6-8 hours, trust me, you`ll be fine waiting that long but you will have feeling abd be able to sit up and move in bed :)
leanie093 (1370.7 days ago) i had natural birth with my son but my cousin who had a c section had a spinal block & you have to lay on your back flat for 8 hours after the surgery. I suggest the epidural (had it with my son`s birth) and as soon as they turned it off in about 20 minutes i could feel my legs & walk around. With the spinal you`re not aloud to walk until after those 8 hours. good luck
