i would say boy... they usually start off high in the first few months, so I would say by 20 weeks yours will be lower than 140 which apparently means boy! My babies was 140`s and a boy!!

At the begining of my pregnancy the babies heartbeat was in the high 160s. When I went to my 19wk appointment it was 154 and I found out it is a boy!

at 9wks 4 days u will find all babies heartbeats are quick. It will decrease over time.

my babys heart rate stays around 170 to 163 its a boy i wouldnt go by that but i kinda agree with tiredmommy said about eating all the time i feel like i need to eat every 1 1/2 to 2 hours but i dont eat much at a sitting just small meals or a orange or apple here and there but who knows this is my first

Well my girls were both in the inbetween range, but this time I have a little one with a lower heartrate and SO hoping for a boy! If it is I will scream with joy!!! Congrats to you. let us know if you find out!

It really is just an old wives tale, but girls often have faster heart rates in the womb. My first child is a girl, and her`s was a bit higher than the boy I`m pregnant with now. His is usually around 143 bpm. Who knows though! (One thing I read early on in this preg is that women often have a higher need for calories when carrying a boy, and therefore are hungry more often. I noticed right away that I was hungry much more often with this preg., but w/my first I never noticed a difference in my appetite. I read this before I knew it`s a boy, and as it turned out...it`s a boy.)
