christina1984 (1349.6 days ago) they told me when my daughter was born to give 2 ounces every 3 hrs. i think the baby will starve at 1 ounce lol. most people give 2 ounces so dont worry it wont hurt the baby or over feed him
kerrymac (1349.9 days ago) I would feed him if you think he is hungry, my daughter was 8lb 5oz and she was a very hungry baby and fed every 2 hours some days. follow your instincts x
kristenpaxton (1350.3 days ago) If he is still acting hungry i say feed him. i never was a fan of `scheduled` feedings. My doc always said 10 mins each side should be enough...but each baby is different.
itsaboy! (1351.5 days ago) thank you everyone...i called his doctor and she is on vacation till thursday of next week and i couldnt get any information from her and the receptionist said she would have the nurse practitioner call me about it and they hadnt called yet when i posted this poll...i did talk to her afterwards and she said the same thing, that i should feed him as much as he wants as often as he wants and he`ll know when to quit..i have 2 other children so i should have known..lol..but i really couldnt remember the exact amounts...so thank you all..hes been eating so good since then and hes so much happier..lol
clackkit (1351.5 days ago) i agree feed him till he stops, if hee has too much he will vomit so you will learn when he is full. my daughter was born 8lb 8.5 oz and when i had to express (my girl grazes my nipples bad) i was feeding her up to 90ml between every 2-4 hours depending on whe is hungry. i could understand if you had a tiny premie but your baby is a healthy size. get a second opinion it doesnt sound right xx
RobinG (1351.6 days ago) How awful ~ I have NEVER heard of that ~ gosh I would def report that nurse ~ your baby should be eating til he stops, which means he is full ~ ((((())))) Anything less is depriving him ~
marietta (1351.6 days ago) I always thought that, breast or bottle, the baby is done when the baby quits. Did I make that up? I`d ask the pediatrician. Go ahead and call, although you must have an office visit coming right up, right? Why wait? I think the pediatrician would want to hear about it--If s/he finds that the nurses at the hospital are giving unsound advice to his patients, s/he is going to want to get in there and correct them.
newmomcop (1351.6 days ago) my littte girl at 2-3 oz every 2 hours...
TNMom (1351.6 days ago) I can`t believe they told you that!! 2-3 oz is normal.
Nan639 (1351.7 days ago) That`s a strange thing for the nurses to say in my opinion. He needs more! Feed him more. You`re his mama. lol You`re never going to see these nurses again.
alex76 (1351.7 days ago) Wow I cant believe they said that, yes a newborn eats less, but if he wants the milk and isnt possiting (bringing it back up) after feeding then he needs it. My newborn took 90mls every 3 hours at first, now he takes 120mls every 4 hrs but goes about 6 hours between feeds at night. He was 6lb 15oz at birth and is a very healthy 9lb 5oz at 5 weeks.
jenakers (1351.7 days ago) My doc said as much as he wants whenever he wants for a newborn.
scruz (1351.7 days ago) 1 ounce, he will starve. My daughter was 6lbs and drinking 2-3oz every 2-3 hours. Feed the baby. If it is more than he needs he won`t drink it. Congratulations
Jadens*MaMa (1351.7 days ago) ya its 2 to 3 oz he was a big boy just feed him til he dont want no more he will stop on his own when he is full!!! my son was 8lbs.15oz. i breast fed for the first week so im not sure exactly what he ate at a time but i know by a month old he was eating 3 oz.almost 4 oz but if he over ate i would know cuz he would throw up a little bit but he was fine .. and y dont you just call ur doc and ask him? i know it is hard but relax a lil bit cuz ur baby will be fine...
