windchime (75.2 days ago)If you`re interested in using a schedule, I recommend reading `Secrets of the Baby Whisperer`
summerisis (75.7 days ago)i made a schedule for myself but it has to fit in with her routine. for example, i`ve decided that the house gets cleaned between 10 a.m and noon. either it gets done in those hours or it doesn`t happen that day. she dictates what happens. i just had to organize myself. her schedule is eat, play, sleep, repeat and it`s about a 3-hour cycle.
steenibambini (80.1 days ago)Figure out what the baby`s schedule is first, don`t try to make your own schedule. Some babies will conform to a schedule quite easily and some won`t. Don`t get stressed out over it, my daughter wasn`t on any kind of structured routine til she was 6 months. I had to deal with her colicky-ness for the first four months. And when your baby cries all the time, getting on a schedule is impossible.
tiredmommy (80.3 days ago)I think a schedule - with some flexibility - is important, and the sooner the better! You will start with your baby`s feeding routine. If your baby eats every 4 hours, then come up with feeding times that work for your baby and for you on a normal day. (For me, it was 3:00, 7:00, 11:00, etc. - for a while.) I bottlefed, so I knew how much she was eating per feeding - that helped for me. If she seemed hungry a bit sooner (like if she was going through a growth spurt and needed her ounces increased), then I would have to feed her a little sooner than normal and increase her ounces appropriately. It also makes a difference when you start introducing solids. Anyhow, start developing your baby`s routine by her feeding schedule - hopefully eliminating the middle of the night feeding, which may mean feeding a little sooner in the morning. Then try to get regular nap times. You`ll definitely want to follow a bedtime routine also- such as feeding, bathing, changing, story, and bed. Once you have your child`s feeding and sleeping times in check, the rest just falls into place. It`s wise to keep with your baby`s schedule as much as you can, but be flexible when needed. (Don`t go shopping when it`s near feeding or sleeping time. It will throw your whole day off and may make for a cranky baby.) A good book on this topic is `On Becoming Baby Wise` by Ezzo and Bucknam.
captshelley (80.5 days ago)I don`t do a schedule..I go with her flow. Are you talking about a bed time rountine or a nap schedule or what? I wrote down what my baby did for about 4 days and she pretty consistant everyday unless I change something up. Like, run an errand and she ends up getting an extra nap in the car or yesterday I took her swimming which wore her out so she went to bed an hour early.
