buzzbebe (102.3 days ago)Sucking - either drinking or dummy for take off and landing
kristenpaxton (114.1 days ago)I took my son at 3 months and they refused to allow me to hold him during take off and landing. They made me put him in his carseat. I had to use a binkie dipped in apple juice bc my son HATED his binkie. But it worked well...he never cried.
julia hope (115.1 days ago)make sure to bring a pacifier or milk/ breast feeding while you go up and down, it helps prevent ear damage and helps the babies ears to pop and adjust to the altitude change. Also, the rumble of the jets create a great atmosphere to sleep. I flew when my son was 4 months old and he slept through the entire 5 hour flight... Good luck!!
pregosharpe (115.2 days ago)I took my daughter on her first plane ride when she was 4mths alone (hubby couldnt come) we flew from Alaska to Arkansas and flew for 18hrs+. Elizabeth was a trooper. I always made sure she was eating/drinking her bottle on take off and landing and she didnt cry once over her ears popping. In fact, she didnt fuss at all on any of the flights. I strongly suggest taking a large ziplock bag and putting 2-3diapers, travel wipes, change of clothes, receiving blanket, and a bottle (if you bottlefeed) in it. That was you can put this bag in the seat in front of you and have everything and anything you might need at your fingertips as there isnt much room to move about on a plane and gather diaper bags etc. Then during each layover (if you have more than 1 flight) refill the ziplock bag with supplies you may have used and will need more of. Good luck, and as you have your hubby going with you, I`m sure you`ll be just fine. One of the worst parts was I had noone to trade off holding her with so my arms were asleep during the longer flights.
JenYancey (115.7 days ago)We took our 6 week old accross the county, 3 flight each way. She did great. Just bring little toys and make sure he /she sucks on something when taking off and landing to keep their litte ears from hurting. DO NOT FLY US AIRWAYS!!
alex76 (117.4 days ago)Get in there quick when you board and ask the Stewards for a travel cot or Sky seat. It fits onto the front panel and the baby is strapped in. We flew from the UK to Florida and it was really great, our daughter slept all the way bar a feed.
KarenVG (117.4 days ago)Nursing is good, done alot of air travel with my babies and that worked just fine as we never used pacifiers anyhow. Make sure you are prepared for the worst poop disaster as were not and it was intersting trying to change in a small bathroom when I had nothing to put the poopy clothes in etc! It is better to be over prepared.
Feel free to ask me anything else that comes to mind.
kathleen (117.5 days ago)give him/her a pacifier instead of nursing that way have still have the sucking action so their ears don`t pop and try not to let them sleep till nearer the time of boarding that way he/she might sleep most of the flight. good look xx
