tto (108.6 days ago)You know your baby- if he poos everyday and hasn`t for a while, then he probably is constipated. One way to help him poo is to use a suppository to stimulate his rectum- don`t leave it in but just stimulate the anus. May or may not help- depending on why he isn`t pooing. Be careful what you give him because his stomach isn`t ready to handle fruit or much of anything else. You can give him another stomach ache from that.
kristenpaxton (108.7 days ago)ive NEVER heard of a baby that was breastfed going that long without a bowel movement. All of the kids ive kept and my own that were breastfed all had soft stools at least every other day but more often than not its was daily (and even multiples a day). Im sure his poor tummy is hurting badly. My doc always recommended just alil bit of pear juice. Of course my little one was 6 months before he ever had that problem. I also was told that massaging the area might provide some relief. I would definately call your doctor .
jeanette (108.8 days ago)Mixing other substances with your milk is a super bad idea if you want his constipation to get better not worse. Babies who have cereal mixed with their milk too soon get less nutrition and often loose weight or stop gaining properly because baby rice cereal is pretty much devoid of nutrition. So, my advice is to avoid that.
jeanette (108.8 days ago)Thats exactly what happened to my son. You`re baby needs to poop, but can`t get it out, and when he finally doese it might be the same concistancy as his normal poops, and you`ll think your crazy. Take his temperature rectally, and the stimulation may make him poop. Feed him as often as he wants, all day long if you have to in order to get his metabolism going, and if you hear him grunting like he has to go, then take off his diaper and hold him over the toilet whith his hiney pointed towards the pot and his back against your belly whith his knees at his chest (this is a natural pooping position for babies and adults alike) It`s hard to poo when your on your back. Oh, and be careful with the aim of his wee wee that it doesn`t squirt him in the face. Good luck.
TattooedMommyof2Soon (108.9 days ago)My peditrician told me that if my son doesn`t make a bowl movement in 2 or more days, to put a tiny bit of vasoline on the end of a q-tip, and gently put it in the babys bottom. I`ve had to do it a couple of times when he was constipated from medication, and it instantly made him go poop. On the other hand, your baby might not be getting enough milk from you. I had to start mixing cereal in his bottles at 3 months (with dr permission) because he would never get full. I`d suggest trying the q-tip thing. If that doesn`t help, maybe try mixing your breastfeeding with formula. Just remember, the bigger the baby gets, the more he wants to eat! Especially boys! You might not be producing enough to fill him up. Good luck!
alex76 (108.9 days ago)Give him some cooled boiled water in between feeds, that should help a bit, it does with my son

erphn (108.9 days ago)I`ve heard of breastfeeding babies going up to 14 days in between bowel movement. As long as it`s not hard and pellet like, it`s not constipation. Also, babies tend to have growth spurts around 3 months too - might explain the fussiness! Keep breastfeeding!
kimmarie (109 days ago)Try giving your baby some milacon drops - you can get it at any drug store such as cvs / osco / walgreens or even target or walmart...almost anywhere...this should help your little one.
