allioop (84 days ago)Yes, it`s inevitable! My first child was almost 4 months when she got her first diaper rash and I remember feeling like I dropped the ball! How could I let her get a rash? But I`ve since learned that it is bound to happen sooner or later. I am also a HUGE fan of Aquafor and use it for everything from diaper rash (or even just to protect the butt) to dry faces in the winter to my own hands that get dried out from too many dishes and bathing little kids. My son also developed some mild eczema this winter and the Aquafor after his baths helped tremendously. I always have a tub of it around!
hotpotaaaaato (106.1 days ago)I think it depends on your baby`s skin sensitivity. My daughter got diaper rash all the time, but she pooped all the time too. Finally around 9mo when solids were abundant she slowed on the poop and diaper rash slowed. It wasn`t until she had 3 days of constant poop again that I realized her skin was just very sensitive to her own poop. change then asap, but I don`t know if you can avoid it, cause we really tried to. Depends on the kid.
mumsy (108.1 days ago)With my first we used Penaten (not the zincy one, the one that is like vaseline) at every change...which were very frequent. It acts as a barrier and works wonderfully. It took me a couple of months to realize that vaseline did the exact same job at a fraction of the cost! She never got a rash once. I totally agree with bebe too, the hair dryer is the best!!! On a low setting, like she said. The white noise does wonders for newborns! Good luck :)
tto (108.6 days ago)From my experience plus what others have told me, one surefire way to get diaper rash is a chemical interaction from poop and pee. I have had my son sit in a wet diaper longer than I would`ve preferred and no rash. Fifteen minutes or so of poop and pee and the rash begins. I prefer to use Aquaphor to cure it because other diaper rash ointments seem to sting and Aquaphor is more like petroleum jelly and doesn`t sting.
bebe (108.8 days ago)Best trick ever for diaper rash is to use a blow dryer! It sounds absurd but that was the advice I was given by a dermatologist when my son`s rash wouldn`t go away. So with all 4 of mine I have used that trick at the first sign of a rash. Use a low setting and of course be very careful. Be sure to move the blow dryer while drying the area completely so not to let baby get too hot. Sounds funny but it sure does work!
agonzales (108.8 days ago)It depends on how sensitive the babys skin is. With my first she sometimes got a rash and when she did I used desitin powder and it would go away right away but they dont sale that powder anymore. My second daughter which is almost 3 I always use baby powder when I change her and I havent had any problems with her getting a rash.
captshelley (108.9 days ago)I used Desitin which worked pretty good but now I use Butt Paste which is EXCELLENT!
kathleen (108.9 days ago)my of my children got diaper rashes while they were teething as teething can make a baby`s urine stronger, i used sudocrem antiseptic healing cream after every diaper change. with my son it got so bad it use to bleed and i had to get a special cream from the doctors to put on it.
