Don`t stop breastfeeding until YOU`RE ready. But you can continue to pump and feed the baby the breastmilk through a bottle. I plan to breastfeed for the first three months or so, but I plan on givng my son breastmilk for at least the first year.

I would at least go to a year and see how you feel about it then. Way to go on going past your initial goal!! BF is the best you can give your baby and your hubby will eventually get over it. Point out the price of a can of formula these days (which are going up as well) and if he wants to spend over $100/month on it tell him he`s nuts lol.

i have to say i can see your husbands point of view..breastfeeding never was my thing i pumped myself all the way through..but sure enough i would do what you feel is the right thing for you and the baby..as long as you feel you don`t neglect your hubby and push him out..i wanted my husband to have the same rights and obligations with the baby from day one and give him the same opportunity to bond.thats why we were feeding pumped breastmilk..and now the babe loves us equally..everyones choice..lol

It is absolutely your choice. BF is the most natural thing in the world, and the best thing you can do for your baby, hands-down.

Its your choice really, do what you feel is best. You`ll know when it`s time to change

with my 1st child i only breastfed him for 4 and a half months because every1 else was wanting to feed him. i was not ready to stop at the time, he is now 3 and i still wish i breastfed him longer. my daughter now is 8 mths and i am still breastfeeding her although she does have 1 bottal of formula milk during the day because she won`t have alot soilds so it fills her up a bit

I think the recommendation is that children are breastfed for a minimum of 1 year (if possible. That`s the recommendation by the World Health Organization and the American Association of Pediatrics (from what I recollect.)

Keep breastfeeding. Once you stop you can`t change your mind.

if you and baby are both comfortable and happy thats all that matters, hubbies are stupid on alot of things. lol...

if you and bub are going well, there is absolutely NO reason to stop. if hubby thinks its weird, so what? its the best thing for your babys health, there is so much research on this, google `benefits of breastfeeding` or similar. doing the best by baby is so much more important than whether or not someone feels strange about it! if he is being really difficult, why not express and bottle feed in front of hubby? he may enjoy being able to feed the bub too

Although breastfeeding is best, this is something that I believe you should concider your husband`s opinion. You both made the baby and are both raising the baby so he has the right to be heard on what he believes should be happening with the baby. Both of my boys had formula and they are just fine.

Keep on breast feeding... I stopped before I was ready and it was a huge emotional rollercoaster for me...keep on going until YOU are ready and the baby is ready...

Keep breastfeeding that baby! I plan on feeding my baby girl until she`s ready to stop, my boyfriend would never be the reason. It`s not weird at all, just compleatly natural. Not to mention the bond you both have. The best parts of my day are nursing Rowan, the way she looks at me and plays with my hair. Stop when you are both ready and not a minute before.

I breastfed my first for A YEAR!!!!! (I went down to doing it only at night once he was able to eat real foods) Forget what he thinks! If God wanted choices like that to be made by a man, he would have given them the SUPER POWER of reproducing! The benefits MUCH outweight the `weirdness` ... My son is now 12 and hasnt hardly EVER been sick.
