shelleyrae33 (49.4 days ago)I would talk to your pediatrician. All babies are ready at diffent times and we all have different experiences. Only your pediatrician will know what`s right for your baby.
kathleen (51.4 days ago)my daughter is 9mths old and is still breastfed, she still wakes up to 3 times during the night i started to ween her on to some soilds at 7 mths. alot of breastfed babies don`t sleep though the night so i wouldn`t worry about it xx
UKMama (51.4 days ago)Mine were weaned straight onto fruit and veg. With my last, we started giving her cereals at 20 months.
lskill (51.6 days ago)At 3 months I started cereal and 4 months I started fruits. I added one new fruit per week to check for allergies and then I did the same for the veggies.
jenakers (51.6 days ago)I gave him cerial at 3 months. It made all of the difference in the world. He slept so much longer. People will give you conflicting opinions. Do what you think is right.
captshelley (51.6 days ago)I started at 5 months
captshelley (51.6 days ago)Breastfed babies won`t sleep through the night early. I don`t think 16 weeks is late to be sleeping through the night. As far as her weight, my almost 7 month old is 14 pounds. Her dad and I are small so she is just going to be a small baby. Also, cereal does have a good amount of iron which is great for babies. My pedi told me to give her cereal atleast once a day for the iron in it. You might want to try and stuff her face all day and hopefully that will help her at night (that`s what I do). Good luck girl I`m sure your frustrated and tired.
jenny504 (52.1 days ago)I took my son to the peditricain a few weeks ago and he said they are now recommending cerel at 4 months. However when my forst son was 10 weeks i put him on cerel at 10 weeks because he was eating 8 ounces in one sitting and still hungry and they can go into cardiac arrest if overloaded with too much milk. Use your instincts!
zenzabar (52.2 days ago)I wouldn`t give him cereal. It`s just empty calories and it has no nutritional value. He needs your breastmilk thats full of nutrients. I skipped cereal all together and started my baby on fruit and veggies at about 4 1/2 months. Sometimes now I`ll put it in her yogurt but thats it.
alex76 (52.2 days ago)I started with my daughter at 6 months but she was sleeping about 10 hours at night by then so we didnt think she needed anything else. It depends on if you are bottle feeding or breast feeding as breastmilk is digested easier making the baby hungrier quicker. They say the minimum is 4 months though so if you think baby needs it then go for it.
hotpotaaaaato (52.3 days ago)I started my breast-fed daughter on rice cereal at 5 months, it really did seem to fill her up more. My neice though is a chunk and just didn`t ever seem full so her mom started her at 3 months and it really helped keep her full. I say your babe is old enough.. give it a try! Plus it`s fun. :)
RobinG (52.3 days ago)I gave cereal at 4.5 months ~ cereal never helped my babies sleep through. If hungry feed more milk as well as some cereal in it via spoon but be open minded that it may not help :) Through the night to me is 6 hours whether it is 10-4 or 9-3. Mine never went 6 hours til at least 5 months ((()))
mum2mia2008 (52.3 days ago)Hey, My friend gave her baby rice cereal at 3 months then by 3 and a half months was on solids.
I think do it when you feels right, i think 3 and a half months is fine,

coltonsmom (52.3 days ago)I started feeding my son rice cereal at 4 months old for the same reason, except he wasn`t on breast milk. I couldn`t produce enough milk so the Dr. said to give him both formula and breast milk... after 1 month of nursing, I switched to just formula because he`d nurse on me for 45 minutes then still drink a full bottle. Anyway, he was getting up 4 to 5 times with just formula so I thought I`d try cereal. Our Dr. said it was ok because he was underweight anyway (4th percentile!!)... and it worked. He started waking up less and less. Do what you think feels right, and it wouldn`t hurt to ask his dr. at the next visit. Best of luck with everything. - oh, one more thing, make sure he can take the cereal from a spoon and swallow properly. If he just uses his tongue to push it all back out, he`s not ready. Also, don`t put it in a bottle... I was told to only feed via spoon. k. done. haha
