Wow, I didn`t know that about the UK dr.s. not checking the cervix. Makes sense though, but one thing I did like knowing from as early as 36 weeks was how far dialated I was and that`s the only way to know. Does it really matter? Nope, not until you`re in labor but I can`t tell you how excited I was when my OBGYN told me I was 2 cm`s already at 37 weeks.

I haven`t had any internal exams and I`ve even been to the hospital for bleeding a few times in my third trimester. It`s generally considered totally unecessary now by most Drs and midwives as it can introduce backteria without any good reason. Like UKmama said, don`t consent to one unless there is some justifiable need.

UKMama (94.5 days ago)
Never. We just don`t do that in the UK, unless there is some cause for concern or GENUINE curiosity (Is she in labour? Where is she bleeding from?). Otherwise, midwives like to check during labour but you don`t have to consent to that either. There`s just no NEED.
