kristenpaxton (1310.4 days ago) sex is the best thing to get things started. My doc told me that when i was getting close last time...unfortunately the bf was just too worried about hurting the baby and i went overdue. It worked within just a couple mins at getting me started with my contractions with my first though :)
***MDelly*** (1312.6 days ago) Here is a good website for natural ways:

kathleen (1313 days ago) • Love-making Sexual intercourse is thought to work in two ways. It may trigger the release of a hormone called oxytocin - the `contraction` hormone - and this may increase the frequency of Braxton-Hicks, or practice, contractions. Semen also contains substances called prostaglandins. These can help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb (cervix) ready for it to dilate when labour contractions start.
If you think your waters may have broken, don`t make love as this may increase the risk of infection, but do seek advice from your midwife or your local maternity unit.
• Nipple stimulation This will release the hormone oxytocin and may help start labour. It`s only likely to be successful if your cervix is `ripe` and ready to dilate, otherwise it seems to help with the ripening process. There is no agreement on how much nipple stimulation you need, or how often, to stimulate contractions.
• Walking This is also a common suggestion. The explanation appears to be that the pressure of your baby`s head pressing down on the cervix from the inside stimulates the release of oxytocin, hopefully bringing on labour. If your baby has not `dropped` or is still high in the pelvis, walking will also encourage your baby into a better position so that labour is more likely to start on its own.
• Complementary therapies Some women find complementary therapies, such as acupuncture or reflexology, helpful for getting things moving. Always take advice from a qualified practitioner who is aware of your medical history and has experience of working with pregnant women.
You should ignore suggestions that you take laxatives, such as castor oil or enemas, which stimulate bowel action. These can lead to discomfort, sometimes pain and possibly complications, such as infections or dehydration.
naino3 (1313 days ago) this is my 3rd pregnancy, and i was 12 days over due with both and this time im on day 6 of being over due! i have tried everything going!! but have found from other people ways to get going are....pineapple, sex, long walks, bumpy car drives, nipple stimulation, orgasm, the baby dance!(rotational hip movements or just silly dancing!!) hot and spicey foods! hot baths, i expect theres more but ive just gotten to the point it will happen when it wants to!!! hope this helps xx
coltonsmom (1313.1 days ago) Making love is a good way to try to jump start things!! :) Semen contains the wonderful natural prostaglandins that help ripen the cervix. Orgasm also releases hormones to assist uterine activity. I notice that I have more Braxton Hicks contractions after sex. Also, my cousin is an OBGYN nurse, she told me one time that stimulating your nipples (rubbing them) can help. I`d avoid taking caster oil or anything herbal, but that`s just me. My understanding is they just give you stomach cramps and make you want to go to the bathroom which CAN lead to labor; but it can also just give you horrible stomach pains for 24 hours or so. BEST OF LUCK, either way it`s defintely not much longer now!!
