I bought the Hibebe 200 doppler off a retailer on ebay, and it has worked great for me throughout my pregnancy so far. I was able to pick up a hb at 10 weeks, although it took some time. It gets much easier as you go along. I believe it was $115.

try bellybeats.com for good rentals. DON`T BUY THE ONE FROM TOYS `R` US IT`S CRAP :D Most say they aren`t great til 21 weeks or more. :)

This depends on a few things...The quality of the dopler...and the size of the person using it. I rented one off of storkradio.com because i am a bit overweight and i am impatient and it works really really soon..but as far as the storebought ones...my friend was on the smaller side and used one and wasnt able to tell until like 15 weeks.
