I like Catherine because it`s traditional and people will be less likely to shorten it to Kate (which I don`t care for), but they may call her Cat. My sister`s daughter is 17 now and her name is Catherine and everyone calls her Cat. (She loves being called Cat, and will not let anyone call her Kate.) Just a thought.

I like Katherine because it flows easier into the short form Kate. If you plan on shortening it at all. If not, then both are lovely.
