BoyStruckX2 (1282.2 days ago) I was induced with my first born for medical reasons. My labor was 24 hours and I pushed for 2 and had to have an emergency section. But it turned out I was not `made` to give birth. My pelvis bones are too narrow.
emy (1282.3 days ago) I was induced 3 days early due to my choice. I am 5 hours away from any friends and family and DH was not sure if he would be able to get out of work in time. We made aprrangements for the induction and for family to be here with us. A lot of people don`t agree with being induced, but everyone`s situation is different, and my son was given a biophysio ultrasound a week before the induction. he was actually slow in movement, which is why I think the doctors were so cooperative with my choice to proceed with being induced. Thankfully i made the decision. Jamison was born at 9lb 7ozs. I had a wonderful labor. They started pitocin at 10am and I delivered at 925 pm. The contractions were very very intense, but to be honest, my epidural worked wonderfully and I didn`t feel much at all except when it would begin to wear off. I pushed for only 5 minutes and had one stitch.
zookeeper (1282.6 days ago) With my first baby, labor began on its own 1-2 weeks late. (There was a discrepancy as to when her actual due date was due to the fact that I had miscarried before conceiving her.) It was horrible and long. The contractions never stopped (no time between each contraction.) With my second baby I was induced the day after her due date because my first baby had ended up in ICU at Vanderbilt because she was late. The induced labor was VERY EASY AND FAST. Once I was holding the baby I was thinking `wow it seems we just started!` But then I hemoragged (spelling?) which is what I had feared. I had read that there is a greater chance of hemoragging after being induced and it happened to me. So the labor was great and afterwards was hell. All things considered, I would elect to be induced again on or the day after the due date rather than let my baby be late because of what happened with my first. I would also consider inducing early IF the baby is large....my first baby was 9lbs. 5 oz. and I don`t want to do that again!
CassandraLee (1282.6 days ago) I had a similar experience with katiebaby1434: The contracts were very intense and got to the point where there was no rest period. For me, I would never do it again. I was induced because my son was large and he needed to come out. I ended up laboring without pain medication for 25 hours with no pain medication and ended up needing a c-section because I never progressed past 5 cm. I would recommend waiting. Baby will come out when he/she is ready.
katiebaby1434 (1282.8 days ago) I was induced after being 8 days overdue, it was my choice, I guess I was tired of waiting! I had one of the most painful and intense labors my nurses said they had ever seen. my mom also said she had never in her life seen contractions like I was having(she had 5 kids), I didn`t even have time to take a breath before the next one was coming.I didn`t want to listen to people when they said being induced was horrible, but now I tell everything..I would wait! I had him after 12 hours, but it only took me less than 10 minutes of pushing =) I don`t care what anyone says though, I will never forget that pain LOL!
~Amy~ (1282.8 days ago) I have heard that a labor that was induced is normally longer and more painful...
