springtime (89.9 days ago)I talked to my dr about this, she said that if massage theripist had enough power to send woman into labor, there would be a line on 37 weekers out the door, lining up to be put into labor. I go every week to get a massage and I love it. Don`t worry about it.

Deletesoon2be momma d (90 days ago)I there! Before I got PG I got a massage once a month and am still doing it now that I am PG. Texas has a state law that no licensed therapist can give you a massage until you are past the first trimester. There isn`t a risk, it`s to cover the therapists butts since that is the most crucial time of risk and some women will blame anything as causing a miscarriage because of their grief. Also, deep tissue massage can bring on contractions but usually not labor - if it could there wouldn`t be any babies over-due. It is vital that your therapist knows you are pregnant and how far along you are as there are certain areas and pressure points they need to avoid so as not to cause more pressure and/or BH contractions. I has severe siatica around 16-18 weeks and got a massage every week and OMG it helped! I truly think that is why it went away and taught me a few techniques to show my husband to do at home when it would start. Also, now being 30 weeks with just general aches and pains, it truly revives me for anywhere from 4-8 days - usually pain free. I am a huge advocate. I have extensively talked to my OB, general doctor and massage therapist about this - I suggest if you have doubts or concerns that you do the same. Good luck and if you choose to indulge - ENJOY!

DeleteRobinG (90 days ago)Plus if it really brought on labor meaning was as easy as getting a foot massage there wouldnt be any over due babies, lol :)

Deletebaby-momma09 (90 days ago)i used to work at a spa and when the ladies would give pedi`s we`d have to inform them that the client is pregnant and x amount of weeks. they do still massage your feet and legs but with less pressure then they normally would. there are pressure points in your feet that`ll cause contractions but i haven`t heard of anyone going in to labor or anything like that.

DeleteCassandraLee (90.2 days ago)No. It might cause you to be really relaxed and happy. Sounds pretty good right about now!
BTW: Its not pedicurists, it would be nail technician :0

DeleteRachael4572 (90.2 days ago)hey there im a beauty therapist.a back rub or foot rub will not cause contractions , im 32 weeks and a massage is the only thing that stop me aching.but every one is different , there are presure points all over the body ,as long as they are gentle and dont massage to much or to hard on these areas you should be fine.its likely that a treatment wil help and relax you.make sure they know howfar along you are.take care

Deletepregosharpe (90.4 days ago)There are pressure points in your feet that if massaged hard enough will cause contractions. If you go to a `good` pedicurist (not sure what you`d call them) then they will ask you how far along you are.. if you are close enough to your due date they will press harder, if you aren`t too far along they will just massage your feet lightly. I got a pedicure 12 days bfore my due date. It caused contractions, but nothing to write home about.. still had my daughter 5 days late.
