Yes they are too close My sons name is eric and I thought about the name Aaron for my new baby but I thought oh no thats way too close The confiusion when you call one but you meant to call the other one the names are both cute but I would consider another name but its up to you if you like it go for it maybe you can call Kate Katie

my sister and I have names that sound alike till this day I get called by her name I hated it growing up never knew who mom was calling

I agree they are basically the same. My son is named Cade and my best friends named her baby Cadie (pronounced Katie). It gets confusing when you are yelling for a certain child. I couldnt imagine calling for a child Kate and Cade. Sorry. Both names are adorable though!

They`re basically the same name - I would worry about that being confusing for them at school, or for you at the pediatrician`s office, etc.
