CassandraLee (1254.3 days ago) I personally would wat till the kid was atleast 6 weeks. There are too many germs in schools
busymommyof3 (1254.6 days ago) well I had a baby on 8/29/08 and took him to my daughthers k class on 9/05/08 , so he was 7 days old. The teacher told them not to touch , ONLY LOOK. It was @ the end of class so he was there like 15-20 mins. Not matter how old he is, DONT let them touch. Better to be safe than sorry. I did not even let my daughter touch her brother while @ school. When I pick her up from school I make her wash her hand or use sanitizer as soon as we get home. ` Prevention is better than cure` is my husbands motto!!
bones9812 (1254.6 days ago) My son was in first grade and my daughter in pre-K when I got pregnant...at the beginning of the school year...so they talked about their new brother the whole time. We also had problems, initially, so they asked for prayers for him and me as well (it`s a Catholic school)...so we had two classes that followed the developement of our baby. I`d come in for show-n-tell throughout the year...when there was a new development; as soon as I could make the baby move, when you could feel parts, when they could see him move....then Peter was born 05.20 and I took the rest of the week off, bringing him in on Tues 05.27...it was like they had grown a vegetable and it was finally time to pick and eat it! They all lined up and held his hands (no worries about infections because they are so limp at that stage--I just washed his hands afterwards)....or they could touch his feet. Everyone had questions (except poor Owen, who was adopted, who INSISTED that babies didn`t grow in mom`s bellys because there are no pics of him being in his mommy`s belly...babies, according to Owen, just show up at your house one day because those were the first pics his mom has...nice story but Owen`s 4...and IMMENSELY fatiguing. His mom said she felt like she was pregnant right along with me because Owen talked NONSTOP about it)....so, in short (like I know how to do that!)---I did it and it was fine. The kids loved it (we sent out letters, as soon as I was past 18 weeks when his cystic hygroma spontaneously resolved and I knew the pregnancy was going to continue normally--letting the parents know what we`d be doing, asking if there were any problems with letting the kids feel my belly, etc)....and, because of their ages, the very tame, `Mom and Dad fell in love, got married and God gave us a baby that I grew in my tummy until the doctor helped to get him out` story was sufficient (unless you`re Owen, of course)....and Pete didn`t get sick at all...just keep it to the hands and feet and wash afterwards. And remember, the baby is protected by your immunities for a long time afterwards (12 weeks?)
