my son gained weight consistabtly.. He didnt reach 20 pounds untill just before his first birthday.. i would say thats average or above average. after the first birthday he maintained weight very well he is now 16 going on 17 months and weighs 24 pounds. I think after 12 months they are able to maintain more and shouldnt be gaining as rapidly as they did in the first year. 0-6 months he gained 9 pounds and from 6-12 months he gained the 4 pounds. I hope that helped lol! he has always been between 50-60 percent on his growth chart, very average!

first few months mine gained 2 lbs a month... then 1 lbs.... now hes 10 months almost and hes gaining less then that,,,

When they become more active and burn more calories.

at about 6 months. they only gain about 1 pound a month after 6 months.
