I had the solid implant shot (the one that lasts for 2-3 years - not the 3 monthly injections). I LOVED it. LOVED it, but I could not stop gaining weight even when I cut all the bad food out of my diet and started exercising everyday - eventually I had to choose to either by a new wardrobe or take it out. I put on 9kg in 9 months and have always had a little frame. I took it out, but honestly, I would be tempted to try it again. I`m a pharmacist and over here you can get a similar version of the `implant` in a mini-pill (so fine for breast feeding). You could always try that and see how it suits you, and then give it a go - unfortunately I packed on weight with the mini-pill too :(

Nothing bad. Worked great for me. I did nt gain any weight. I dont need anymore weight as it is. I am not so great on remembering the pill everyday..LOL.. so Depo was a good choice for me!!! It seems like all the comments are bad, so I wanted to write a good experience. Depends on your body!!

I was on the depo shot when i 16 i was on it for about 6 months so i had gotten it 2 times, when i first got it i had bleeding for the first month then after that i never got my period again, i gained about 20 lbs while on that shot, i know it was because i didnt get my period and all the water and everything, they say it`s takes a little while to conceive after getting off the depo shot, well i got off the shot and was waiting for my period to start so i could start the pill and i never got my period, i found out later that i was 12 weeks pregnant, and that`s how my little girl came to be, she was born when i was just barely 17. I would never get that damn shot again, i hated the weight gain. I also felt like crap all the time. I have tryed the pill, the shot, and the patch, i already described what the shot did to me, i think i had a small heart attack while on the patch so i never used that again and i always forget to take the pill, i`m considering the mirena iud but if i try that and it sucks then i`m just going to use condoms until my husband can have the operation lol he`s too young to do that right now, but he said that he will do it when he can. We planned this baby that we are going to have now but after he is born we both don't think we are going to want anymore.

I was on the depo after having my first child and I was fine on it until about a year later. The good was that I didnt get any periods with it but that doesnt always happen for some. Some women bleed all through the whole time. After being on in for a year I started to gain weight like quick. I swear I went up like 4 pant sizes in a week or 2 so I got off of it quick. My aunt was on it just for 3 months and gained lots of weight and got off because of the same thing. One of my cousins been on it and never had any problems so I guess it depends on the individual. Everyone has different experiences.

I would never have it done again ~ I had it done in 95 and it was horrible ~ I got every side effect listed I hated how I felt and I truly believe my infertility for 2 yeaars was the result of it since my 1st and 3rd were no trouble at all. It can take a while to get out of your system when you stop and want to conceive again. I`d never recommend it to anyone but thats just me ~ I`ve heard others say they hated it and others say they liked it ~ (())

a friend of mine has been getting the shot for awhile now and she has no complaints-aside from that she gets a little moody when she gets it-otherwise she likes it.

I meant used to get the depo shot....not just to get the depo shot....sorry, pregnancy brain this morning!!!

I just to get the depo shot and it was fine for several months - then my body started to get to it I guess because then I would have a period ALL the time.
