killer for me: the contractions coupled with that horrible back pain no one tells you about (transition?); pushing was much harder than i imagined!

TNMom (55.2 days ago)
TRANSITION!! Just for the 20 - 60 minutes I was in transition it was a killer. Otherwise, my labor isn`t bad and pushing was actually a relief.

Pushing didn`t hurt, but it was exhausting. I pushed for two hours. I never felt the `ring of fire` - she just slipped out. I tore, but I didn`t feel it. I didn`t have any pain relief at all, and I never really felt I needed any. The contractions were intense, but when they were over, I felt perfectly fine. There was no lingering pain in between. Transition was tough, but short, and I knew pushing was coming, so I stayed calm.

I too had the Epi and it worked very well for me.. at one point it did wear down and i had yelled for it to be turned up again, but that was it. I was on labor for just under 24 hours.. and i stalled at two cm. The pushing was the easiest part and the part i look forward to again (i know it sounds weird) But i had him out in about 20 mins. I tore a tiny bit and only needed 1.5 stiches. The placenta sisnt come out on its own but i didnt need to push it out either.. the nurse stood there and slowly pulled on it little by little and there it was. They actually advised me not to push it out when i had read so many stories about women who had.. still dont know why i wasnt able to, to this day!

transition for sure- but it isn`t that long.

Transition!!

For me the most painful was dilating the last 3 cm, its been the hardest with all my kids but it happens pretty quick, I felt waaaay better pushing, the contractions slowed down and got less intense and it felt really good to push.

I had my first child naturaly & I didn`t find any of it that bad actually. I mean yes it hurt...but it wasn`t as bad as everyone kept telling me it was. I actually loved the pushing...it was a relief. She was out on the 2nd push. And the placenta just like fell out!...I didn`t even need to push it! But for me the most painful part was the stiches afterwards. I tore a bit & needed some stiches & they hurt VERY badly!!

I was in labor for 22 hours, and I ended up pushing for about 10 minutes! But pushing was very difficult for me because my baby was posterior, and they had to take him out with forceps, and I tore badly. I popped him out pretty quickly anyway, but at least with labor I had been preparing for months with my hypnobirthing and felt I could manage things reasonably well.

KateOhm- I agree with you on the placenta. I was curious to see if anyone else had so much pain with it! My doctor also had both arms up there... you would think I would be all about seeing my baby at that point... nope... I was way to distracted from the pain!! lol.

i felt that transition was the most painful, pushing was a relief (the only way i could describe it is- if you have ever had diarrhea and vomiting at the same time, i felt as if my body was squeezing in the middle, out to both ends) that sounds horrid, but its not as bad as it sounds, and i did throw up on my poor husband :( that bit was quite funny
