michaela (53.2 days ago)I mostly use organic for my daughter`s food, i have decided to let her have some unorganic things but mostly i stick to organic, i think it is also kinder to the environment and i do do my bit (recycling household waste, freecycle etc.) It is more expensive but i have managed so far by not buying junk foods as often, not to mention that i gave up smoking when pregnant and have saved loads.

DeleteMelissaJoanne (54.1 days ago)That`s also why it looks like I mentioned being passionate about children in Africa for no reason! This would be the downside of people being able to delete their comments - it makes the responses look a bit out of place.

Deletelukesmyboy (54.2 days ago)kateOhm, I think its eaier to buy organic with those type of food allergies. Do you have a Trader Joes near you? Or a Whole Foods or Nugget Market? They all have a great selectong of organic soy free dairy free and gluten free foods! MMMMM!

DeleteMelissaJoanne (54.7 days ago)There are strict requirements about what can be called organic, and it is not supposed to be shipped and/or stored with conventional foods. `Natural` doesn`t mean much, or `healthy` or `light`, but organic actually does. And as littlemissi said, the difference comes in how it`s grown, not just pesticides brushing off from other foods.
*And I`m passionate about children in Africa too. I do missionary work in Kenya. The food there is delicious, and pesticide-free. ;-)

Deletecherryrose (54.8 days ago)We give our son organic baby food, but the rest of the food we eat isnt. We want to tranisiton to only organic foods, it is just a slow process for us since we are so used to not buying organic
Edit
Deletekimberly with 3 (54.9 days ago)I didn`t start buying organic until I found out my daughter has extreme allergies to certain ingredients. I now buy all organic.

DeleteMelissaJoanne (55 days ago)Oh high school... they were required by law to always have a vegetarian option for me, however that option was generally cheese pizza. There`s a great daily lunch!

Deletechasesmommy (55 days ago)where i live the only place close to get organic is publix and there isn`t a big selection. i completely agree with you its so worth it instead of junk
Edit
Deletejensay (55 days ago)i think the amount of unhealthy foods in schools are crazy....more so in high school
Edit
Deletechasesmommy (55 days ago)i agree with everyone, i would love to feed my family organic its easier to do with baby food than for the whole family btw but i think its crazy they wonder why american kids are overweight and unhealthy, not all but alot, and you see 2 for 1 burgers and how much are the salads. its not fair when people don`t have alot of money. i hope one day to be in a position that i can buy all organic but until then i have only healthy food no junk food in my house.

Deletemanda21 (55 days ago)My son is just starting baby foods and I will have him on organic foods. I would rather cut corners in others areas, rather than with food because it is expensive to eat healthy. My hubby and i eat fairly healthy, no fast food, no red meat...lots of lean meats and veggies, but ever since my son was born we eat much healthier. I want to be a good role model for him, and it helped me lose all my pre-preggo weight and my hubbies sympathy weight so, it has many benefits!

DeleteMelissaJoanne (55 days ago)As far as affordability: there are different products that are more important to buy organic than others, so you can pick and chose and make educated decisions about where your money is going. For instance, conventionally grown peaches have the highest levels of pesticides that a fruit or vegetable can possibly have, with apples not too far behind. Onions and avocados have the lowest. There are charts available online (like www.foodnews.org) that will tell you info like that, to decide which products are more important to chose organic than others. I`d rather buy less (forgo junk foods, fast food, and useless calories) to purchase more high quality foods, rather than waste money on things that won`t be healthy and good for our bodies.

DeleteElijahs Mom (55 days ago)When I plan to make a good dinner, I buy all organic ingredients. Unfortunately we can only afford to this maybe once a week. The rest of the week we eat whatever we can find lol but when we can afford it, everything in my house will be organic.
Edit
Deletelukesmyboy (55 days ago)I buy mostly organic.
Edit
Deletejensay (55 days ago)what happens if some1 cant afford it...it also needs to be more accessible! if the government make it policy that all foods are organic then ppl don`t have a choice!
Edit
DeleteMelissaJoanne (55 days ago)Preach it littlemissi! There are SO many overwhelming reasons why organic products are better both on an individual level, and a greater environmental scale.
