I think it depends on the doc. I only got one the whole pregnancy.

It really depends on your insurance, not the Dr. Some insurance plans only cover 1 or 2 u/s total unless there is a reason to look again.

I got 2 ultrasounds. 9 weeks and 19 weeks. I dont get anymore unless there`s a problem. So I have no idea how big the baby is or anything. These dumb Pa doctors dont tell u anything.

I know they did an ultrasound to measure the fluid... so some Dr`s take a guess... my dr did and told me 8 lbs and he said he was usually 85% right... my daughter was 8lbs 1oz!

No. You typically get 2 ultrasounds during your pregnancy unless there are concerns or a specific reason for needing more.

i was high risk so thats why i did... if everything is going well they don`t always give one :)

they usually do those if you go past your due date to make sure that there is enough fluid and that the baby isn`t going to be too big. They also check to makes sure that the baby is still doing well and is not in distress. If you are having a normal pregnancy, they may not do one until after your due date (if you are still prego)

I`ve never heard of an u/s to check the weight unless there was a medical reason to do so... On my last big u/s (here you get 3 during pregnancy 12 weeks, 20 weeks and 32 weeks) they predict the weight.. but with #1 they were 500g off!

they usually only check the weight if you are too big or too small. I had one with the 1st and they were off a lb anyhow
