sweetbaby2comingsoon (1225.6 days ago) Even before I went into the hospital for labor (i had been in their for there tours, and they ask questions) i told them i wanted one. I know at my hospital, if you answer no to them if you want an epidural they wont give you one when you are actually in labor. So if you say yes you can easily choose not to.
For me I wanted one, because the pain i was in was only gonna make it miserable (as to all woman). He bagan putting it in, and told me to be very still, as he was putting it in i began to have a contraction, and couldnt help moving. I told him i was sorry, and i was ready...he told me he already had it in. I was amazed i did not feel ANYTHING! Then soon after i couldnt feel a thing. I am SO GLAD I GOT IT...cause she tore me in the inside where i had to have 80 plus stitches! So it was glad i could not feel a thing. It was just exhausting pushing but i didnt have it bad, cause after 20 minutes she was in my arms!
lilpnutdollmom83 (1225.7 days ago) If you need to get induced, GET ONE! I tried the all natural approach, but when I got to 4 cms the contractions were so close I couldn`t bear it. You don`t feel it, and you will be able to rest. Believe me, You will need all the rest you can get to push. It takes alot out of you.
lisamarie8503 (1225.9 days ago) I had an epidural, didnt have a choice since I had a c-section. It was painful when they stuck it in at first, but trust me, there are other things that hurt a bit more lol.
GreekGoddess26 (1225.9 days ago) i had the epidural but it did not work for me at all i felt everything the contractions were the most horible feeling in the world, but in most women the epidural does work i would say take 1
CassandraLee (1226.2 days ago) I had an induced labor without pain medication for 20 hours. I couldnt take it anymore and had an epidural. At that moment it was the most wonderful thing. I had absolutely no complications of my epidural. I was scared from hearing all the horror stories. I had a wonderful anesthesialogist. If I wouldnt have been induced I wouldnt have had the epidural. Induced labors suck!!
ams8663 (1226.4 days ago) Epidural is God`s gift to women...lol...I was induced at 38w6d...I went into the hospital they gave me the epidural and then started me on pitocin to start my labor....I never felt any contractions nor did I feel any pain while pushing...I never felt the urge to bear down even when i was 10 cm...they just told me to push and he popped out in two pushes!! Was a very great experience!
julz31hope (1226.5 days ago) usually your contractions arestrong enough that the needle is hardly even noticable.. Then once the epidural kicks in.... For me it was the best thing ever!!! I didn`t want to get it at first, I waited for the last moment... Best decision ever!!! Also, it does not take away all the pain you deft... Feel the labor!!
jensay (1226.5 days ago) ive had 2 because i had 2 c sections.. Don`t know how it is for labor... but i never had any lasting effects and it numbed me enough for surgery :) I think its a personal decision and if i would have labored i was going to try and go without any meds but not kick my self if i had to get the epidural.
tamii (1226.5 days ago) everyone`s experience is VERY different, so you may want to wait until your labor starts before you make a final decision. on that note- i LOVED my epidural. i was induced and because of that the contractions were seriously intense very quickly. i got the epidural after about an hour and was completely comfortable from that point on and through the delivery. i know some women have difficulty pushing becuase of being so numb, but i didn`t have any trouble at all. whatever you choose, i hope everything goes smoothly!
cadesmommy (1226.6 days ago) I loved my epidural. It was amazing. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.
~amy~ (1226.6 days ago) My sister has had two babies.. her first with an epidural and second without one. THe first birth was really long for her and she had to be cut. The second birth took 20 minutes of pushing and Evie was out- no tearing. I`m not getting any drugs.
trinitymum2be (1226.6 days ago) i felt no pain once i got my epidural my only problem was it took the guy three tries to get it in my back. i did throw up once but overall it saved my life my contractions hurt pretty bad and once i got it i could relax and sleep
monkeymamma (1226.6 days ago) They had already given me some IV meds and I had a reaction to them--shaking--so that made it difficult when it came time for the epidural. You have to be REALLY still. Once I got through that...no problem. And none after having the baby either!
