i took two tbls, and had contractions 4 hrs later. i think this time i`ll just wait though.

i tried it with my second baby and it did nothing.....i thought it was an old wives tale a waste of time. but good luck anyway

I took Castor Oil with my 2nd daughter as I was induced with my 1st an never wanted to go thriugh that again.. I knew by trying a tiny bit that it tasted gross, so i just stood over the sink an drank from the bottle as much i could before i just couldnt drink anymore (probaly 2 mouthfulls) then went to bed.. contractions started round 1am, I was so excited i couldnt sleep so i got up, had shower packed bags woke everyone up, went to hospital just after 7am and had my daughter at 10am, was such a gret birth compared to my 1st.. Hope all goes well for you

The way it works is that the diarhea cramps cause sympathetic uterine cramps that lead to labor. It`s much more painful because your uterus becomes dehydrated and cannot contract to it`s full potential. Don`t do it. Trust your baby and your body. I know the last few weeks are the hardest, but you can do it!

I took castor oil to avoid being induced and I did start contractions in about 12 hours. I was 8 days past my dd when I took it. I mixed 2 Tablespoons with some orange juice and also drank orange juice after to help get rid of the taste. I do think it`s safe, but there is a risk of becoming dehydrated because it usually causes diarrhea, so make sure you drink plenty of fluids after. Good luck! Just want to mention, too, that 38 to 42 weeks is all a normal range to have a baby full term, and you can choose not to be induced, I did this twice.

thanks for the answers. I was also under the impression that castor oil is what was used to induce before the invention of pitocin etc.. And if I had to choose to have pitocin again or try something else.. I`ll take the something else. I think I`ll go and buy some tomorrow and we`ll see what happens! thanks again!

light exercise and sex are the most recommended i hear
