First of all i would like to say i dont disagree with anyone.. I wanted to breast feed my son however i wasnt allowed because the heart medication i was on could have harmed my son (he was 8 weeks early), and also because i had open heart 2 weeks after he was born... i pumped what i could and froze it, because the lactitionist said that at about 6 months i could mix my breast milk with his cereal, because he would be big enough that the medication wouldnt harm him.. Furthermore with regard to Pembles comment... back in the days before formula, if a woman was not able to produce enough milk, they used either carnation milk, or regular milk... these days with everything around us being different then it was back then, some women do have problems BF.. Although i really wanted to BF I was not able to, however my son is perfectly healthy and has been on formula since he was born..

my baby wouldnt ever latch on so even though I`m a stay at home mommy, I pump all the time.

Iloveyouconrad.....The answer to your rude comment is..... I have never been able to produce enought milk. I tried pumping with a store bought pump and then a hospital grade pump, fenugreek, warm compresses. YOu name it I have tried it.Its possible not to have enough milk. It also runs in my family. So dont judge a book by its cover when you have not read the whole story. Your ignorance really shows!!! If you notice I said I supplement AFTER I BF!!!

I breastfed exclusively for almost 6months. I would have continued longer but I had problems with my milk drying up. I think it`s an individual choice if you want to BF or formula feed. For myself however, I believe the saying `breast is best` and wanted to give my son the best start. He`s now 1 and has been so healthy cos of it.

There was no option... BOTH. I dont produce enough milk, so I supplement after I BF.=)
