We just got over our thrush a couple weeks ago. The Nystatin did not work for us, He only had it on the top of his tongue when we started using it, but by the time we were done with it, it was all over the sides of his tongue too. A nurse practitioner told me to try grapefruitseed extract and it really worked great for us. let me know if you want to know about the dosage and all that. good luck THRUSH SUCKS!

Make sure you bleach all your bras and boil all his bottles/pacifiers/breast pump parts every day for like 5 minutes. Some books and doctors even say to really get rid of thrush you have to throw out your pacifier a/bottles and breast pump parts but I thought this was too extreme. Thrush is so easy to pass back and forth. Also a solution of 1/4 vinegar and 3/4 water will help your nipples after every feeding. Trust me it sucks(we had it twice). Good luck, girl! You can also eat yogurt.

We kept passing it back and forth and then when he was 6 weeks old for medical resons not related to the thrush i had to stop b/f and then it finaly went away. However my thrush developed into thrush mastitis and it took 3 doctors and 2 lactation consultants to diagnose me. keep an eye out for deep breast pain and pain while nursing in the armpits cause in my case it was hard to diagnose.

it will take about a week...it hurts like heck I know!!! Make sure you sterilize pacifiers and bottle nipples after yhey have been in her mouth....it also helps a lot to air out you nipples, let `em hang out for a little while they will feel better....hope that helps!!
