CassandraLee (1175.1 days ago) I quit my job to save the cost of daycare. Then my mom, who my son and I live with, lost her job. I have had to go on welfare and get food from local food shelves. The economy has hit us very hard in our family.
alex76 (1175.3 days ago) Like Kater my hubby works in the Building Industry too. We are in the UK, he just heard today 50 joiners(carpenters) are being laid off. He`s lucky though as he works on the smaller contracts and it is th big building contracts such as Museum restorations etc that are being affected. I really feel for those families, especially at this time of year. It seems to be affecting everywhere. Woolworths and MFI both went into administration today and the UK Government are bailing out banks left right and centre.
My5Babies:) (1175.5 days ago) We moved from Michigan to Wyoming 2 years ago because we were having financial problems then. He had been at his job for 8 years and had been gradually cutting his hours, so he quit his job. He went to Wyoming when I was 36 weeks pregnant with our 3rd baby and found a GREAT job. There are still so many jobs here and not enough people to work. I meet people here every day from all over the country who are coming here for work. The children and I moved here 5 months later after hubby found us a house and we could afford it (he was living in a small camper until then). Today I miss all of my family and friends so much, but I am thankful we have a roof over our heads and food to eat. Had we stayed in Michigan 2 years ago, we wouldn`t have anything. God bless. I just want to add that change is hard...it was so hard to move 1400 miles away and for my hubby and I to be apart for 5 months, but it is the best change we have ever made.
jensay (1175.6 days ago) my husband is laid off and im sacred we are gonna have to go bankrupt. Things are hard, even more so with Christmas coming up...makes me anxious and scared :(
crazylifewith3 (1175.6 days ago) My little ones dad lost his main job back in January-luckily he was also working a part-time job at the time-which he still works at (has since high school). He has been steadily looking for work ever since & has only been called in for one interview-which didn`t pan out. He has even put in applications at Best Buy, Ciruit City, and places like that thinking they would at least be hiring for Christmas help-still nothing. I work part-time, since I was going to school up until June of this year. Luckily, my job is giving me more hours to try to get bills paid, but if things don`t turn around soon, with another due in March I don`t know what we will do, I don`t want to loose my house!
EvaV (1175.7 days ago) My husband and I bought our home in 2005 and just rented it out. He will be losing his job with a major corporation at the end of 2009. So far, he has had no luck finding a new job despite a great resume and a degree from a prestigious university. We made the decision to move back in with my parents and save money via renting our house. I am looking to begin my masters in nursing in the Fall so I can be a bigger financial contributer. Today, I am definitely thank-ful for my parents generosity in allowing us to move in with them, otherwise we would most likely be losing our house the end of 2009!!! Just wondering how others are adjusting or if I am the only one feeling like I will never be financially secure!
