mumsy`s poll Show results | Hide results

Name-poll poll Do you consider yourself educated when it comes to food allergies in children? I was talking to a woman the other day whose daughter is anaphylactic with peanuts and I was shocked to hear her stories about how ignorant some parents can be when it comes to this! (Parents forgetting about the warning at the school and sending their children with peanut butter sandwiches!).

My 3 Sharpie Miniz (1173.8 days ago)
My son became allergic to 5 things at the age of 9 months. he`s allergic to Milk, eggs, soy, peanuts and red dye. so if you think one allergy is much imagine 5! it was very scarey i didn`t know what to feed him, or what foods could keep his body fat on. i had to put him on rice milk and everything was organic! i couldn`t buy a thing of food, soaps, deturgents, clothes, or medicines without reading the labbles. i worried about kids with peanutbutter sandwiches. or ppl sneacking him food. we couldnt eat at reasterants because of the oils or if they us the same pan to cook sertin things. i had to carrie a JR EPPI pin around at all times. daycare became to stressful so my husband and i did shifts. he work in the day and i work at night. surtin allergys are worse then others penuts eggs and milk he would swell, and soy and red dye would would give him the worse painful rash all over his body. very time he would brake out i had to investigate to know how long i had if he was to swell to us his eppi or if bynadrel would stop his rash from speading. even though it`s a headach and stressful at first. it quickly becomes a lifestyle. he if the healthest little boy being on organic food, nopursevitives, and homecooked meals. my son is a healthy 2 1/2 and surpisenly he know what not to eat and an say no to foods or candy he cant have. so it`s becoming a little easyer. but as a perant when your child has something. i beleave its second nature to us the fully eduate and learn what our child has some we can help them get back on trick to living a new noral life :)

  1. OMG, I posted on FB (in reponse to a suggestion made to me on From Our House To Yours) that I didn`t like a business because the items were very expensive and my friend got a bad deal there and the owner is threatening to sue me! Have you ever heard of such a thing? I actually paid a consultation fee and my lawyer told me that she was `absurd with possible mental health problems.` I am protected by the fisrt ammendment to express my honest opinions freely where I choose, but he said she can take it to court(because people can TRY to sue over anything) anyway and that it might cost me legal bills. We will both be out a lot of money because she couldn`t possibly win. Can you believe that? FML! First my records and now this! I hope my baby isn`t a bad luck baby. I see people not recommending or recommending businesses all the time on FB!
  2. Is SaraKelly still on here? I know she was a mod but I didn`t see her post in the previous Who Is A Mod poll...
  3. ANGRY!!!! My jenakers account is missing my ENTIRE journal from my high risk pregnancy and my letthisonestick account for my 7 month old is completely gone along with my journal. I AM SICK OVER IT!
  4. I`ve re-thought the moderating of the member-postings. How does this sound? Let`s change it to usage, rather than length of time as a member. Say your first 10 or 20 polls, questions and pictures need to be approved by a Mod or something like that. Someone posting the racist polls and adding the kiddie porn is unlikely to participate as a normal member. Once you are verified as a regular member you`re no longer monitored.
  5. How long did it take you to get pregnant after you got your IUD (Mirena) out?
  6. Twilight valentines for 7 year olds... appropriate or not? DD received a valentine with a very... sultry smoldery Edward on the front and I was just kind of surprised that anyone would buy those for 7 year olds? I know I`m on the conservative side in general on those kinds of things, but this really surprised me!
  7. My daughter is almost 5 months and 3 weeks ago my hair started falling out. I know it`s normal but how long did it last for you?
  8. With all the issues going on with the site maybe we need an updated list on Mods. Obviously Laura is the one to go to but if there is a concern and it needs immediate attention and a Mod is online it may be good to know who is who so you can reach out to them. Mods, can you please post here so we know who you are. (Esp since some profiles names had to be changed because of recent log on issues)
  9. Anyone wanna try http://parentspuzzlepieces.spruz.com/ a free community site I just made? Let me know if you want the password and would want to help add things to it!!
  10. I think with all the posting issues IAP needs to appoint someone to verify all pictures, polls, questions, etc that are posted by new members. Sure, it`ll probably make things slower, but something needs to be done! Many websites have this installed and IAP needs it as well. Members that have been on the site for a certain time can be exempt, but if you are a new member, posts should be monitored. I`m going to copy this suggestoin to Laura and if you agree you should too!! :)
