i read your story and if i were you i`d use my own last name. i mean you`re not with him anymore. its a personal choice though, and you do realize there is always the choice of a hyphen... its completely your decision and whatever you feel is right is what you should do. no matter what anyone else thinks. good luck.

Unless he is relinquishing his parental rights I have always supported the BD name. Just because you are not with him doesnt mean he will not be a good dad to his child. If he is planning to not be involved at all that is different. Perhaps give him both names and hyphen it :)

I was with my son`s father for 7 years-been apart for 3 and even though he is still in my son`s life I wish I`d given my son My last name-I`m the one who has done the parenting and it bothers me that my son and I don`t share the same last name.
