alijo (1133.2 days ago) Just do it a little at a time - each day your baby will get more and more used to it. My baby is still not crazy about it at 3 months, but now he`ll stay on his tummy for longer each time before he starts crying. Sometimes I put him on my chest, as other people have suggested. I also prop him up face forward on a boppy pillow, so that his chest is supported - this is his favorite way to do tummy time. No matter what, I always do tummy time with him, so that he is encouraged by my face. I also use toys to distract him.
zookeeper (1133.7 days ago) My second child hated tummy time so I didn`t make her - and she is fine. Holding the baby in a sitting up position and holding him so that he looks over your shoulder will help him gain strength. It may take him a little longer to sit/stand/crawl/walk but that is OK.
gr8scottswife (1133.7 days ago) My daughter doesn`t like tummy time, but she takes naps on her tummy so when she wakes up she is moving all around on her tummy, squirming. She is just now to the point where we can put her on her tummy for about three minutes. The trick I use to keep her quiet and happy for that long are: being loud and excited, loudly encouraging her, getting my face lower than hers, putting brightly colored toys near her and ESPECIALLY a large mirror in front of her. She will stare at herself, which means she has to lift her head up to look. Mainly, be excitedly loud while encouraging your child, and if nothing else, put a mirror in front of him. Make him see the light reflected off of it to catch his attention to look at the mirror. I put Ada on the bed and then I sit on the floor so that my head is lower.
RobinG (1133.8 days ago) My Hunter has therapy for delays and his therapists clarified that tummy time is any position that they are on their tummy and able to attempt to lift their heads. That includes laying on your tummy head near your chin and you reclined. It is not limited to just the floor flat. And not all babies like it sadly but they do love lying on mommy and daddy`s tummy so I`d do that for now ~ it is valid tummy time and counts :)
monkeymamma (1133.8 days ago) My little man didn`t like it either until he could roll back and forth. Now he`ll play on his tummy and then roll to his back when he gets annoyed or tired of holding his head that way.
Tylers Mum (1133.8 days ago) there might be an underlying problem. maybe have him checked by the doc. he might have a sore back or belly :(
LKLmama (1133.8 days ago) Would he like to be on his tummy on you?? Wearing your baby is great for building upper body strength. Do you wear him?
azmommytobe (1133.8 days ago) my son is 8 mo and still hates it!
missyv28 (pink) (1133.8 days ago) well I think it`s okay for no tummy time, he will get his motorskills some other way eventully. Not every baby is the same. Just give him time and notify his doctor at his next check up.
STCT (1133.8 days ago) My daughter is also 4 months and really doesn`t care for it. I would just try to put him on his belly a few times through the day so he can start to get used to it. It may take a few weeks. I`ve been putting my daughter on her belly a few time through out the day and distracting her with a toy and it seams like she can stay on her belly longer. Also I try to do it at her happiest times of the day.
