Wendy Elizabeth`s poll Show results | Hide results

Baby-poll poll I plan on breastfeeding my baby when he is born but I will also be giving him a bottle with breastmilk so Dad can be a part of the feeding process as well. (I did this with my first baby and it worked well.) What bottles do you recommend using??

I would recommend Avent bottles. I breast fed for over a year and used those because i used the Avent pump and it worked out great for us!

My sister used the Dr. Browns with Evie because she had so much air but the nuk by gerber worked well too.

Playtex dropins with ultra slow-flow nipples work great for us. We waited until after a month, but he needs to drink breastmilk from a bottle while I work (daddy watches him, as we work different shifts), and they work great

If ur planning on doing breast and bottle then Tommee Tippee Closer to nature bottles are perfect. The teat is shaped like a nipple so it isnt as confusing and less work when you want to put him/her back to the breast etc..

I started out trying to use the Avent bottles since that`s what the hospital nurses recommended here, but my baby girl didn`t like the nipples, we tried the brown nipple, and regular playtex and ventair nipples and still my daughter wouldn`t take a bottle, we finally tried the Nuk since they`re the most like mommy`s nipple and my daughter takes those just great. She breast feeds just fine with me whenever I`m home, but she takes the Nuk bottles great when I`m gone. That would be the one that I recommend.

When I pump and store milk, I use the Drop-Ins with the `natural` nipple. He uses it fine, and there`s no confusion between the two since it`s so much like a human nipple. I swear by those drop-ins... when they get older, you can put juice and whole milk and all that in it using the same bottle, just switch the bag and rinse the nipple. I found that at Target, they sell the generic drop-ins molded or soft and they`re half the price of the name brand. If you buy the bottles, get one of the gift sets that way you get different sizes and different shaped nipples to find out which works best for your baby. Good luck!

I used Avent (as recommended by our lactation consultant) until the BPA freak-out. Avent now offers a BPA free option but they`re as expensive as Dr. Browns, Born Free, etc. I went with Sassy Mam bottles which are BPA free and roughly $4 per bottle....but I like the sound of nmck`s $1 bottle option!

I have breastfed and used bottles with my daughter since she was three weeks, and I used regular playtex bottles at first, but they caused her not want the breast. So I tried the Nuk wide mouth bottles, and she loves them! Plus she still loves the boob lol. I think they feel really similar to an actual breast.

We were on the nuk orthodontic nipples but had to switch to Dr. Browns because of air! Its a huge diff now!

I breastfeed as well and use Dr. Browns, she loves them!

The ones that i found closest to the breast was the breastflo bottle by safety first. They had a special nipple that best simulated the breast and the slower/harder working flow of the breast. As my son got older and would easily switch back and forth between the bottle and breast i switched to the cheaper playtex drop-ins.

we use the nuk orthodontic nipples. they are the same shape as your nipple when it is in the babys mouth. my son had no trouble at all latching on. it has a great built in vent, AND the fit the regular, cheap bottles. here is what they look like : http://www.viewpoints.com/images/review/2007/256/13/1189707555-8055_full.jpg

i se drop ins for the rare times i use a bottle and i love them

I`ve only ever used an Adiri natural nurser for the few times that I`ve pumped + fed (in the car on a road trip). It`s supposed to work well for breastfed babies, to simulate breastfeeding, and my daughter hasn`t had a problem using it.

We use evenflo. They are BPA free, dishwasher safe, and only $1 each.

  1. I`m interesed in getting an innotab for my kids. Are the extra downloads pricey? How is the product as a whole?
  2. Thought they were fixing the problem with the profiles? Mine is now starting to disappear and most of my friends profiles are gone. Is it getting fixed or what because its more than a joke at the moment. Maybe its the ads causing the problems because its the only thing that seems to stay when the profiles disappear.
  3. If you had a `favourable` cervix (started to dilate and soft) did a membrane sweep work for you?
  4. Should I buy my sister a Belly Bandit for her shower? She said that is what she wanted when I asked. I just have a hard time spending that much money on some thing she might niot like. Especially because it was me who put the dumb :) idea in her head!! I bought and used one for three out of my four and loved it...but is it for everyone? Or should I throw down the money to something more practical?
  5. Are your children exposed to two hours or less of TV per day? (This includes when your shows are on and they are awake and around at the same time in the same room)

  6. Just finished making a birthday cake for the first time from our baby girl for her daddys bday tomorrow :o)
  7. Extension of last Valentine question..I should clarify that we are having V-day dinner tomorrow alone but still just the fact that he bought our gifts at the same time at the same place bugs the s-it out of me. He knows I like plants and I`m pretty sure he went to a nice nursey and got me one but the fact is he told me he got his mom a small little plant. OMG I fee like I total b-tch but I feel like telling him I know what he probably got me and I do not want anything that you are giving your mom!! But then he wopuld know I snooped and saw where he went on our checking account.
  8. O.k I know this is a off the wall question..Is it weird and selfish of me to be annoyed that my husband has is giving his mom a Vanetine gift and card tonight when she comes over and wants to give me mine too today? I know I`m probably being sensitive and I feel bad that I made the comment `if you give me the same thing as your mom I`m gonna cry`. He said I should`nt ruin the surprise and I told him I was sorry but I just wanted our Valentines seperate because everything includes his family and it`s a day for lovers. Am I....

  10. I`m getting quite annoyed...I`ve been buying nail polish lately and it seems every one I buy is crap. They take forever to dry and look just sloppy by the time they are dried. Is there something specific to look for when buying nail polish?? am I missing something?? LOL What are your favorite `fast drying` brands?? Thanks in advance
