I got my epidural after being poked 3 different times because he couldn`t find the right spot. I wanted to rip the needle out of his hand and tell him to just forget it! Then it worked for about an hour (it wore off one my right side, they said she was probably laying on a nerve)So they had me lay on my right side and her heart rate dropped so I laid on my left side and her heart rate dropped again so I had to lay on my back and deal with the pain.. I still felt all my contractions then ended up getting a spinal block after because I had to have a c-section because I wouldn`t dilate past 6cm..If you plan on getting one I hope you have better luck than I did...

i guess i jus got lucky...i went into the hospital at 1130 pm on the 7th of sept my contractions got really bad about 1 ish...didnt get the epidural till like 5 then went straight to sleep started feeling some serious pressure in my lower back at 1045am an popped my lil man out at 1113 am quick an easy! good luck mama

Something I wish they had told me before, and not after: if you`re someone who needs extra anesthesia when you go to the dentist (I am), the epi won`t work as well. I wouldn`t have bothered with it if I`d known. I still felt tons of pain, so they kept upping the dose, and it made me super shaky. Baby was also stuck, and I had to push for 2 hours!! Will not have an epi this time around...

None of your answers fit. I got the epi and it took away all pain and pressure. I felt abosolutely nothing and it was GREAT!

Epidural Hell for me! I got mine as soon as I went in at about 9am I kept hurting and was in so much pain and thought it was working I kept telling my mom I don’t know how women have natural labor if labor with an epi. Hurt this much. Turns out it wasn’t working at all and the pain pump that goes with it was broke and not working. She had to take it out and put it back in 3 times! When it did start to work I knew it! It was amazing!!! But 30 min later I had to go for a surprise C-section. So I went threw my whole labor natural but it was worth it! I would deff get it that’s for sure!

I hated my epidural with my first one and had my next 3 all natural without any pain meds and it was 100% better than having an epi.

The epi took the away the pain and just gave me a pressure feeling instead! I could still move my legs and feel everything and only pushed for 5mins! Was up an showerin after it too! Will defo have one next time as it saved my babys life too as she had cord wrapped round her an was back to back which made things complicated for me x

and let me add it only took me 20 min of pushing!! dont let anyone scare you. the epi didnt do anything bad for me at al!!

i cant vote bc you dont have my option. i didnt feel ANYTHING!! it was great bc my labor was so painful since i was induced and given pitocin nand had a 9 lb 5 oz baby in there. but once i got the epi i was pain free and ready to relax. my doctor came in to tell me it was time to push and i didnt feel anything the whole time, she told me exactly when to push and when to let up so i didnt even tear at all even with my huge baby!!

i loved the epidural, they did mine while my contractions were already pretty strong so i really didnt feel em insert it and after it was in i loved every min of the delivery. the lights were put way low and i was not feeling the pain. I plan to have em give it to me as soon as i get in to the delivery room.

I got an epi. did not feel any of the contractions or the stitching, but really not to scare you maybe they did mine wrong, i did feel her coming out. when woman call it the ring of fire it really is like that. Like i said i`m not tryin to scare you, just being realistic and trying to help you prepare. but my sister in law got an epi and she said she did not feel ANYTHING. so maybe like i said the guy did it wrong. : )

I am such a baby myself. I had it with all 3 and I LOVE every second of not feeling the pain. When I start to feel the pain and epidural is wearing off, I ask for another Bolus . They say you cant push Well. Of course with my first it took 2 hours. You usually push more with your 1st. When I had my 2nd the midwife said I would not be able to push I told her i wanted the bolus anyhow. I pushed out my daughter in 3 pushes. She did say she was wrong after the delivery. My 3rd I pushed him out in about 9. He was so big so I ended up having an episotomy. I was so glad I cold not feel that. I was still numb so I did not feel the Dr. Stitching me up( I heard that hurts like hell). I would recommend an epidural to ANYONE!! Its 2009 why be in pain if you dont have to. But on the flip side I do have the upmost respect for those who do it naturally. I know thats not for me . =)
