courtenay (1098.9 days ago) i quite often enjoy a beer in the evenings.
jenakers (1099 days ago) I used a beer and it increased my supply. One beer diluted threw your entire body is not going to make your child consume alcohol threw breast milk. One beer is completely absorbed into your body in an hour.
jenl645 (1099.1 days ago) Try oatmeal...that is what my lactation consultant recommended. I got so tired of it all that I went to Similac Sensitive and baby loves it.
luvbeingamom (1099.1 days ago) tto - I had to pump at work and always struggled. I had to pump at least 6 times a day for the one to two bottles of milk he needed at daycare. I would pump first thing in the AM, 3 times at work, once at dinner time (5:30) and then again before i went to bed around 10/11. I fed him directly from the breast in the AM, at daycare around 4 /4:30, and at bedtime around 7. On the weekends i would still pump first thing in the AM, at 5:30 and before bed around 10/11. Then i would feed him on demand all day long. Also, during the week i would have 2 bowls of soaked oats, one in the AM, one in the afternoon. On the weekends i would have one bowl in the AM. It was a tough schedule but i was very determined to not have to supplement. Good Luck.
tto (1099.5 days ago) Thanks for the advice everyone! MomMom- my son can`t handle soy or milk based and now he is spoiled by the taste of breastmilk. He could only handle nutramigen, which he doesn`t like and costs a fortune. I wanted a back up formula, but that isn`t working out. Cadesmommy- I tried the more milk products but they have fenugreek in them and it hurts his tummy- same with mother`s milk tea. christinawar- I have to pump while I`m at work and I`m not pumping enough ounces.
LKLmama (1099.5 days ago) Why do you think your supply is low? Is your baby having 6-8 wet dipes in 24 hours?
megandgrace (1099.5 days ago) I heard to drink non-alcoholic beer works just the same!!
lin (1099.5 days ago) it worked a bit for me, i think more than anything it helps you relax and the yeast helps stimulate your milk. Give it a try, what have you got to lose?
happyforest (1099.5 days ago) IT WORKS SO GOOD!! my milk had went away, and i was upset about it. but since i wasnt BF anymore, i let my mom watch my baby while i went out. i had 4 beers that night. i woke up in the middle of the night in so much pain. my boobs were FULL!!! i would try one...and if that doesnt do the trick have a couple. just make sure you have some pumped milk you can feed your baby bc if u drink 4 beers it will take 4 hours to be out of your milk.
ARMYMOM (1099.5 days ago) I do one beer at night after baby goes to bed and I know he`ll be down for several hours. I`m currently in the same boat as you and haven`t noticed a difference with the beer. I think the best thing you can do and what I`m currently doing with my 4 month old is switch your feeding schedule back a half hour. We were on a 3 hour feeding schedule so I switched to a 2 1/2 hour feeding schedule. There is also Mother`s milk tea that helps and soaking oatmeal overnight and having a bowl or two of that each day is suppose to help as well. Other than that I think the next best thing to do is just relax and feed what you can at each nusing session. If baby is hungry a half hour later.. feed again. Hope it works out for you.. and keep BFing if your really determined to stay at it. I started supplementing with frozen breastmilk at the last feeding and noticed a change in my mood.. I was really depressed and tired. I slept for 12 hours straight. I went back to breastfeeding fulltime and feel tons better but still working on the supply issue.
luvbeingamom (1099.5 days ago) i never tried a beer but alcohol moves through your milk like it does your blood. So if you are no longer effected by the alcohol then your milk is no longer effected. There is no reason to pump and dump. You can pump before drinking and then again when the alcohol is out of yoru system. Also, try soaked oats. I ate them twice a day and it increased my supply by 3 to 4 pumped oz. Are you breast feeding or just pumping? Pumping is not as effective as directly bf. So keep latching on the baby and your milk should increase. Also, if you are pumping, try getting a hospital grade pump. They work the best. I had a medela double breast pump and it worked great but i tried a hopsital pump once and it was hands down better! Good Luck! I know it is frusterating. I was so stressed and upset about the struggles i had with bf my first that i lost my milk supply before 2 months and had to give him formula. it was hard for me. I started bf my second with a whole different attitude and i successfully bf for 15 months.
cadesmommy (1099.5 days ago) One beer is fine. My son`s pediatrician told me to drink beer even though honestly some say its a myth that it increases your milk supply. It def wont hurt anything. Also, have you tried this http://www.motherlove.com/product_more_milk_plus.php? It worked for me when nothing else did. Good luck. I know it sucks. Try not to supplement either because then you really will have milk supply issues. Also, some moms (on this site) have had great results with oatmeal and soaking it over night. I never tried it but it might be worth the try. Good luck!!!!!
