MummyLJ`s poll Show results | Hide results

Other-poll poll OK, I know this is silly, but it`s really stressing me out. I am EXTREMELY self-conscious and embarrassed about how I look right now. I`m 37 wks and I`ve gained over 40lbs. My mom lives 1200miles away and wants a pic of me preggo. I REALLY don`t want my pic taken- I don`t want any reminders of how huge I let myself get and I know she`ll show the whole fam, and they`re catty and they`ll all laugh about it. I don`t even change in front of DH I`m so embarrassed. But she`s giving me a hard time about wanting a pic. It`s seriously making me cry. Should I give her one, or tell her too bad?

You're being ridiculous- shut up and take the pic
Why does she need a pic? Tell her no

You ladies are the best! Thanks for the hilarious suggestions and the words of encouragement. The logical side of my brain says I`ll want pics later, and to take at least one, but the hormonal side says `no way fatty!`... I`ll probably take karenbq`s advice and develop them when I`ve lost the weight and am not so self conscious. Thanks to all!

I wish I had more pics of me when pregnant because it is a time in my life I`ll never get back. So what if you gained weight, you`re suppose to. You`ll loose it later and then hopefully laugh about it in twenty years. Your weight doesn`t define you as a person. Who you are does- that is what you should have your esteem in, not your weight. Have the pic done, it doesn`t have to be on display. But the memory is nice.

During my first pregnancy, I refused all pictures. Now I wished I had something to remember that pregnancy by other than stretch marks. (and of course my beaustiful Daisy)

I know how you feel - I felt exactly the same. It`s not like you`ve been an undisciplined pig, you`re creating a baby, and people are more accepting of weight gain when you`re pregnant, and being your mum, she would have some empathy into what you have to go through during pregnancy. If you do send one, just ask her not to show anyone... Or perhaps wait til you`ve had your baby, I haven`t started dieting yet, only BF, and have lost 10kg in 11 days. It`s easier to accept your size at your biggest when you are already on your way to returning back to normal...

take pictures on a disposable camera and put it on a shelf. Develop them after you deliver and then decide if you want to share.

i can not find a picture of me preg with my 2nd. i am not happy to be so large but i love that i am preg with one of my precious children. i also like to do scrap books so it will go nice it that. i say yes or at least take one and hide it for yourself. you can never get these moments back and you don`t want to look back and say i should have.

I think I know how you feel, I`m 38 weeks and I`ve also gained about 40 lbs which seems huge considering my prepregnancy size and shape but even though it might be hard to get used to and it may be difficult to see the attractiveness of your condition; I think its a good idea to get at least one picture while your preggo.

its nice to have a reminder... i say just give into it... you may be grateful you did years from now... im sure your baby would love to see one when he/shes older. i wish my mother had taken one of herself carrying me... by the way... i gained about 70 lbs in all and i took a pic every week!

hotpotaaaaato (262.7 days ago)
I felt like that with my first pregnancy... and after she was born I only had 1 pic from about 20 weeks and only those taken at my baby shower. I wished I had more! With my second pregnancy I took one at least every 2 weeks to remember it. I say take a pic

If you have a picture of earlier on, you could send that. But I wouldn`t worry about it, though, I`m sure you look beautiful!

sept1baby (262.7 days ago)
You shouldn`t think anything of it! Send her a picture, and tell her it`s of you and her grandbaby! :)

lovemyfamily (262.7 days ago)
I loved getting big!! But if you really don`t feel comfortable give her a picture of someone else`s belly hehe

RobinG (262.7 days ago)
I gained 58 with my first and I was PROUD of how HUGE I was!! I was a size 10 when I got pregnant ~ I grew a baby, a liveing person was inside of me and the bigger the better for all to see :) Take a photo and be proud to show off your baby belly :)

I`m sorry you feel this way hun. 40lbs really isn`t bad. But maybe you can tell her how you feel and she will understand? I felt horrible during my PG also, but now that I look back at pics I realize that I looked pretty good!

ninik1 (262.7 days ago)
I did send my family some pics and they are still telling how big I am... but I love my belly and that is all that matters... so love ur belly it is for short time... and soon it is gonna go .. for me this is my first and no more babies after this one so I am enjoying and I dont really care what other people think or say ... have fun with it...!!!

GavinsMum (262.7 days ago)
i agree with Austin. I did not want any pics taken of myself but now i wish i had taken more. i gained 50lbs and now i hate my body!!!! i actually liked myself being prego looking back on it now!

Mommy2CutestBabyGirl! (262.7 days ago)
Shes your mom... let her have one :)

STCT (262.7 days ago)
Do what ever you feel like doing. Really 40 lbs is not that much. I think pregnant women are the most beautiful things.

nicnmicsmom (262.7 days ago)
take one, photoshop the hell out of it until you look like Brooke Burke pregnant...and THEN send her one. hahahaha. Otherwise, don`t give in to the pressure.

Austin::and::Alexs::Momma (262.7 days ago)
I felt horrible about myself with my first pregnancy and absolutely hated pictures taken, I have a total of 2 whole pictures and now I regret it sooooooo bad! I think you should take a few shots just for your own keepsake, just incase...

  7. I`m at 19 weeks, and just had my 20 week ultrasound a week early (thank you THANKSGIVING!!), am overjoyed to find out everything is A OK BUT I have `marginal Placenta previa` my midwife says she`s NOT concerned and that it will VERY VERY VERY likely move up on its own and I can deliver naturally and vaginally as planned, if not I have to have the dreaded C-section. Which i`m SO terrified over I get into a panic every time i think about it. So, my question is: Has anyone here HAD marginal placenta previa and had it move up by the time the baby is born?
