mrs.leyva (1077.2 days ago) My husband and I took a class before we had our first. I left feeling more confident and he left understanding the whole process better. We also won a new carseat just for answering a question right.
Amanda-is-Rebekahs-Mommy (1077.2 days ago) If this is your first baby I would recommend it, I`d done a lot of research and I knew a lot of what they said, but I did have more confidence going into labor, and while I felt really stupid while we were having `practice labors` listening to the stupid tapes about breathing through contractions we weren`t having and trying different positions on the birthing ball (that felt really stupid to me, luckily I wasn`t the only one doing it, cuz who knows what`s going to be the most comfortable for you when you`re in labor), I did end up using the breathing techniques they taught when my water broke and all of a sudden I was in labor and having HARD contractions. I don`t plan on taking a refresher course with my next baby though, I think I have learned all that they have to teach me. Oh, and they had some good handouts, like introducing babies to pets etc...
happyforest (1077.5 days ago) i had read so much by the time that i took the class that i didnt learn anything in there that i didnt already know!!
jinx-marcell (1077.5 days ago) We haven`t gone into labor yet so I don`t know if my answer will really help, but the birthing class me and my SO took helped me feel a lot more confident and even though I now know what there is to be afraid of, since there`s less unknown to worry about I feel a lot more ready for what`s to come...
shocked-over-3 (1077.6 days ago) They helped me in the wasy that I was a little more confident going into labor..I knew kinda what to expect, but unfortunantly, nothing will totally prepare you for what will happen.
I`d do it though....I took a refresher course with baby #2 since my boys were 4 years apart.
As far as the breathing and so forth, you may use it and you may not.
