mcpris214 (1015 days ago) I started measuring 2 weeks ahead at 28 weeks and then after that I was consistently measuring 1-2 weeks ahead. I went into labor and gave birth 8 days late and the baby was 10lbs 6oz... vaginally. It was a very dangerous birth. He came out blue and not breathing because his oxygen was cut off in the birth canal because of his size. I don`t think most babies get that big though. I am currently measuring 3 weeks ahead all of a sudden at 34 weeks. i go for an u/s in 4 weeks to determine what birth plan will be best. As you can see from all these answers, you never really know! Could be more fluid, big baby or none of the above. EditDelete
mumzie1212 (1072.8 days ago) i measured big w/ my first child, i was carrying high and he was born 8lbs 11oz. chances are, you are having a pretty healthy sized baby. you could definitly tell when i `dropped` too. you`ll probably notice a difference when that happens if you are carrying high too. ps, my son was 7 days late. Poppy~Ella~Rae (1073.1 days ago) when i was 32 weeks i was measuring 3 weeks ahead i thought id have the baby sooner but i still went 10 days over and had a 8lb 9oz baby EditDelete
Terise (1073.3 days ago) Its normal to measure up to 3 weeks ahead. My fundal height measurments are always different. It can mean you are having a big baby, carrying a lot of amniotic fluid or your baby is just sitting high. Usually if you measure more than 3 weeks ahead they will give you an ultrasound to make sure your baby hasnt grown too much. I am currently measuring 5 weeks ahead so need an ultrasound. EditDelete
tamayajon (1073.5 days ago) It could mean your having a big baby my doctor said the same thing to be when I was pregnant with my daughter she said that it just means the baby is big, she was right she was 10lbs at birth and she was 1 week late EditDelete
daydays mom (1073.5 days ago) just depends. i measured around 2 wks ahead when i was pregnant with my daughter. and i kept asking the doc if my due date was wrong and she said no i was just having a big baby. when daisy was born i was induced @ 39wks and she was 9lbs 14.4oz...so either your due date is wrong or your going to have a big baby! ~amy~ (1073.5 days ago) I always measured behind.. my biggest measurement was 34 weeks! I went to 42 weeks and Joel weighed 7.6 EditDelete
RobinG (1073.5 days ago) It means you are just measuring the size of an average 36 weeker ~ has nothing to do with when you may delivery or due date sadly ~ I always measured 2-3 weeks ahead. (()) EditDelete
luvbeingamom (1073.5 days ago) It is just the measurement from your pelvic bone to the top of your uterus. I actually alternated with the same pregnancy from being 2 weeks ahead to 2 weeks behind. The doc said this was b/c of the way the baby was shifting in my stomach. It has little bearing on how big the baby is. they measure to make sure you grow. EditDelete
TwinklinBrwnEyes (1073.5 days ago) Ok sounds like the only way we or you will know is if we ask the doctor lol. Sounds conflicting. You would think we would ask but I rarely say a word to my doctor....I have learned so much on my own (ya know with this site and have google right at my finger tips) that I rarely need to ask `whats that mean` etc. So ask your doctor or just google it =) I know I wasn`t much help was I =0 =) ;) EditDelete
