BraxtonsMommy0516 (1536 days ago) my son is 10 months and I do that occasionally. But he can pull himself up, stand without assistance. I think if the child is near walking age, then why not? I always go down to my son`s level to do so. So if he falls it`s not going to hurt his arms etc.
karenbg (1536 days ago) To expand on and explain what I said in your other poll...From a motor development standpoint, it is not the best because it throws your `center of gravity` (not gravity, sorry that was misunderstood) off; it`s about two inches below your belly button; it`s pretty much your stable point; when we are pregnant our center of gravity is moved forward (because of our big bellies) when you reach to either side, it is displaced to either side, when you reach up (as with holding a babies` hands when walking) it is moved up; so your point of stability is not where it `typically` is; better to support baby at the hips or trunk (but not always practical and hard on your back); essentially when they learn to walk this way, they have to re-learn to walk with their COG where it belongs after you are no longer holding their hand...same idea with push toys (moves COG forward) sometimes (but not always) you see delays in walking because they have to basically re-learn to walk with their COG where it should be...the only thing you`ll observe from the outside is that it takes them longer to walk independently, but that`s a 12-18 month age norm anyway so there`s lots of time to practice...
bethk (1536.2 days ago) I do it with my LO! I have no choice as she wants to be running around and wont stay still! But you should wait until their legs are strong enough and as ur likl 1 is 11mnths I would say its fine x
Terise (1536.4 days ago) I think its ok as long as they are old enogh to already pull themself up to a standing position, otherwise you might be putting too much weight on their legs when they arent ready for it.
lovemyfamily (1536.5 days ago) When theyre a certain age and have full leg strength and you`re not holding up all their body weight its totally ok! if i were to do it with my 10 week old thats a different story!
luvbeingamom (1536.5 days ago) Like i said in your other poll, i dont care for it, My bothers arms where pulled from there sockets from doing that. His feet gave out and when his full body weight pulled his arm (he was holding my dad) it yanked his arm to hard,
