I will never have mine done just because both my mom and my aunt had their done, and they went into pre menopause in their late twenties from it. They have both been on natural hormone replacement ever since. But my mom had REALLY bad depression after she had hers tied, and she has also suffered massive migraines ever since. Me, I`m going to go the IUD route.

I will probably just keep using the IUD until I go through menopause. I am a diabetic, and diabetics tend to die quite a bit sooner then non diabetics. I could never force my husband to get a vasectomy, what if I die in twenty years and he meets some wonderful woman and they want children together? Also, I think the thought that I could NEVER have more chiildren would bum me out.It is just too final.

Just be VERY sure about it. I almost had my tubes tied after my 2nd child. I was 30 yrs old, married and had a boy and a girl. Then I got divorced, 5 yrs later met my current husband and he wanted a child of his own. I did get them tied this time after my 3rd c section, but I was very positive that I wouldn`t change my mind! (The fact that I had to have c sections sealed the deal. It`s not recommended to have more than 3.)

Depends ~ I was 40 when I had my 3rd so I`m done 100% so got mine done but if I was 35 and thought I was done I`d of waited til I was 40 to revisit the idea.

I`m on my 3rd boy and I`m DONE.. I`m 27, 3 kids is more then I ever expected and very expensive. I`m having a my 3rd c-section and I will me getting my tubes tied. I want to be able to enjoy sex without the worry and since they`re already going to be in there.. it`s going to be done. I think its the right choice for my family.

Yeah but if you get it reversed it isnt 100% that it will work. God that would suck if you got them tied, 5 years later decided to have more, got them `untied` and it didnt work. How devistating!

kaylamama (1523.9 days ago)
I would get it done if I knew I was done having kids. If I get to 4 or 5 kids and am in my 30`s, I`ll probably get it done. I knew a woman who got her tubes tied after 4 kids, then 7 years down the line wanted more... so she got them reversed and ended up with 2 more kids.. You can get them reversed, it`s just expensive..

I dont know how someone can make a decision so big in a day. Its irreversable, so I would NEVER get it done. You never know...one day down the line you might want more!

I wouldn`t get it done. After all, I was finished having babies after my second for a number of reasons. #1 I was in an abusive relationship with their dad. #2 I didn`t feel I`d ever meet anyone I wanted to offer such a commitment to. #3 I didn`t want to have children for different men. #4 I had a hard time with both labours and my son (youngest) was a demon baby. He didn`t even sleep through the night until he was 2 and a half. And while he was up all night...he was crying...for no reason. But time moved on, my son is now 6 and I`ve met a wonderful man who I want to spend the rest of my life with. He accepted both my children like they were his, and wanted one of our own...so I went back on my decision to never have another one...

I think I`m just going to continue with an IUD until I am no longer able to have children!! If I ever decide I want another one, I can always have them removed :) And, they are AS effective of tieing the tubes and a vacectomy (sp?)!

dollhouse (1524 days ago)
I think that some people should be required! I work with kids and sometimes you just wonder why certain people are allowed to keep having babies!

missyv28 (pink) (1524 days ago)
I don`t think I could do it. I cry when I have to take birth control haha. Some ladies can do it and to each your own on this one. My mom had it done after 5 kids...she was done and she didn`t trust herself to not have another baby lol...

Agree with monkeymamma, with the same reasoning. When we`re done, I wouldn`t have my tubes tied, but we`d consider husband having a vasectomy.

I`d rather hubby be the one to get a vacestomy because it`s less involved, outpatient, and can go home that day.

  1. Can anyone relate? My 4 year old is making all sorts of amazing connections which is great that he`s thinking about the world, but some of his thoughts are quite deep. He`s a natural born worrier (gets that from me!) and I try to protect him from as much as I can but there`s things that can`t be avoided. Ie, ever since Easter, he`s been plagued with fear about getting holes in him like Jesus (he learnt it at Kindy). Well just this evening he came out with `Why do you and Margo (Grandma) have holes in your ears like Jesus? Did you get your ears nailed to a cross?` He`s also obsessed with the fear of death.
  2. Family of 4 flying Southwest tomorrow (2.5-hr flight), baby riding in carseat on plane so can only sit by window. Flight is full. Which seating arrangement would you choose...
  3. I`ve just opened up my facebook newsfeed this morning and there`s a whole bunch of photos of Saturday night antics. First there was one from my 19 year old cousin with her and her friends (looking thrashed out, dirty, bits hanging out of places they shouldn`t and just overall skanky), and another from a friend of mine who is 15 years older on a rare night out with her school friends (who are all mums) who looked gorgeous, fresh, clean, sexy yet classy (let the clothes rather than the skin do the talking - ie you don`t need your ass and boobs hanging out to show off a nice little figure) Is it just me, or are young girls looking thrashier than women in their 20s, 30s and 40s?
  4. Do you or someone you know raise their now school aged child with attachment parenting (baby wearing, never ever allow the baby to cry it out, cosleeping, baby let snacks and feedings, etc) 8f so, how does the school aged child/ren compare to their peers?
  5. You can only have three of the four when buying a house. Which do you sacrifice?
