I forgot to mention that like others said a good nightime routine is very important. Jonathan has dinner at 5pm, start bath at 6, then bottle at 6.30 and by 7/7.30 he`s out... I do make sure to put extra butt paste on him and I also give him a `lovey` which is a little blanky with an animal that`s attached to it.. this is his friend and he goes to sleep with it every night. At 4 months a baby needs to learn how to sooth himself and you are the only one who can provide him with the right tools, which ever you feel comfortable with.Good luck and remember that consistency does pay off... :)

For the babies sleeping 10 plus hours at night... are they not peeing at night? This past week kara has only woke up twice at night to pee then nurse and is back to sleep in mins. snugged up inbetween mom and dad.. she was nursing more and going potty twice so this week has been nice.

I usually change baby and then nurse - sometimes in the rocker, but not always. Then put baby in bed. If she falls asleep while nursing, I sit her up to burp. She will wake a bit, but not completely. Or sometimes, I just gently jostle her a bit just so she is not sound asleep when I lay her down. Then she usually went right to sleep. We rarely had a problem. All of my babies were good sleepers.

I give her a bath right before bed, I swear with my little one it`s the trick. After her bath I rock her while feeding her a bottle, burp her, then lay her down and she goes right to sleep.

My son is just about 6 months old but we`ve had the same bedtime routine since he was 3 months old: Bathtime at 7:30, lotion/baby massage, get him in PJ`s, wrap his favorite blanket around him, bottle, hold him against my shoulder for a little bit and rock him, and then I lay him down with the paci (unless he`s already passed out).. and he goes right to sleep. He has a white noise machine in his room -ocean waves and he`ll sleep a good solid 11-12 hours straight.

I stopped holding my son to fall asleep somewhere in the second month. I just let him fall asleep on his own, no bottle, no binky. We never had to let him CIO for bedtime, but we did for naps when he was a little older. At 4 months, he is old enough to have self-soothing skills.

I`m with inb25. We have a routine--night, night lotion; clean hands and feet, brush teeth, put earring solution on, brush hair, change diaper, turn out lights, turn on nightlights, give Pa hugs, maybe a book (if she isn`t too far gone), hold her tight, tell her I love her, Jesus loves her, Good Night, Sweet Dreams, and in the crib she goes and off to dreamland before I can even leave the room. I used Good Night, Sleep Tight by Kim West.

My LO is 3 months on 19th and I just put him in his crib and he goes to sleep on his own. I have always done this since he was born and never had a problem.

I used to have to really rock my son to sleep, and wait till he was fast asleep. In the end we had to get him to sleep in his basket, then put the basket in the cot. After a short while I put him just in his cot, but used a head hugger. Then I took it away. Now I just feed him, let his food settle as soon as he begins so moan I just take him up with this dummy, satin blanket and he music glo bear. I have to go in a couple of times to put his dummy in again, he doesn`t cry though. Now I can get him off in about 10-20 mins. My other son was the same, he is excellent going to bed now.

I had the same problem..While putting my daughter into her crib she already woke up and cry. I now know why,.because when you rock them to sleep they feel safe and think they`re with mummy..If they wake up they lay down in a crib,..without even know it,.so that`s why they`re so scared. Conclusion: You`d better put your baby in bed,.He`s got to learn to fall asleep without rocking...

My youngest is 9 weeks...At night time, when Im actually going to bed, I nurse her and we both fall asleep. During the day when she starts acting tired I nurse her, change her diaper, and put her in the swing where she falls asleep.

I nursed my dd to sleep, would not recomment at all. Next one I plan to do something else, whatever that is. Sometimes she even wanted to be nursed to sleep in the car. Its exhausting. She only does this with me. She falls asleep hugging her dad. Im so jealous. Dont nurse to sleep. And before 6 months take her out of your bed if you do that.

I used to rock/bounce/walk- YOU NAME IT, to put my son to sleep. At 5.5 months I realized I can`t do it anymore. I then took one of the best advices and got the book called Good night, Sleep tight by Kim west. On the second night my son slept through on his own. Ever since (he's now 7 months), he`s been sleeping 11-12 hours a night. I just put him in his crib, give a kiss and walk out. Even nap time:)

we feed Carmelo rite when he gets up, then he lays around we sit him up, and do all we can in such little time, then i sit outside with him for about 10 minutes, give him a bath, then swaddle him or put him in the crib after he lays on my chest for a few...

Ditto Christina - I nurse her to sleep, and fall asleep myself. Sometimes she drifts off in my lap before we go to bed.

Sarah is 4 months too. She stays with daddy for about 2 hrs. then she fusses about 10 and I lay her down in our bed and she falls out.

bdoe [kaylees mommy!] (343.6 days ago)
I forgot that we have a musical mobile too. So we turn that on and she watches it turn and listens to the music and falls asleep.

bdoe [kaylees mommy!] (343.6 days ago)
As soon as I see the first `eye rub`, in the crib she goes. She fusses and might cry for like 10 minutes, but we all know she`s tired, and she falls asleep. It helps to swaddle her too. Make sure you try and see if he`ll eat anything before you put him down and do a diaper change.

We put tommie down when he starts acting tired and turn on some white noise. He usually falls asleep on his own.
