just look at it this way tell your familia like i told mine, they named you so let you name your own children! I loved the name Aidan Michael and Carmine Jonah and my fam was soooo pissed so like 10 min after we had our son we said to hell with it and went with Mason Avery. Now we`re not even telling them names and we`re gonna use Payton Renee` for our daughter.

i hear ya! First of all I have a good friend named Athena and secondly my whole family on both sides HATES our daughter`s name. It`s Langston. You just gotta push them all aside. Dont please your mother just because SHE hates the name. It`s not her child.

I know how you feel, tho i think you should chose the name u and DH want and to hell with everyone else! My problem is that Im having a boy and even tho my insticts told me he was a boy waaaay before my scan, my BF would only chose girls names, we had agreed on Eve, But he still wont think of a boys name and i only have ONE that i like. and BF HATES it. I told him he can have a choice in the name when he starts to show more of an interest. xxx GOOD LUCK XXXX

I love the name Athena. I have a good friend named Athena. Maybe you could make her middle name something your mom will like. It`s your baby. If you and your hubby both love the name, I say that`s what you should go with. It doesn`t matter what anyone else thinks. She`s your angel.

I am 23 weeks and I we are in the same bind. The names we like, someone special doesn`t like it. Names that used to be at the top of our list that we don`t really like that much anymore, everyone is saying to name her that! SOOOO frustrating. I agree with what everyone is saying that we as her parents get the priviledge of naming and no one else`s opinion should matter, but i am such a people pleaser, and it really disappoints me when someone doesn`t like the name. We like Aislynn Hope but everyone says its too hard to pronounce/spell or that it`s just plain wierd. My mom wants us to name it Lilliana after my grandmother and my mother in law... well really my hubby`s whole half of the family wants Miley Rae (im ok with Miley but dont like Rae). GRRRRRRRRRRR. Just know I completely understand what u are going through. We will just both have to tuff up. It may be the first, but it wont be the last time we have to make a tough decision for our daughters. Welcome to parenting!!!!!!!!!! YIKES>

You`ll never be able to please everyone with the name you pick. There will be someone who dislikes it for some reason. I know what you mean about mom though, I`m to the point that I`m not going to tell her any names I`m thinking about because she HATES everything I come up with. All that matters is that you and your husband like it. It`ll grow on everyone else!

With out daughter no one knew her name until the day she was born lol. We had started off by sharing our name choices and after a few weeks of frustrating comments we kept our choices to ourselves and it was just so much easier. This time around once we have decided on a name for our son (which like you have all said is impossible to agree on) it too will be a secret.

Like the other women have said once your family, friends etc see`s the beautiful baby they will love any name you have chosen. Don`t let anyone talk you out of a name both you and your Husband love.

I love the name Athena I would call her Thea or Nina for short. How ever I am sure all kinda of nick name idea`s will come to you once she gets here. Our daughters name is Aurora and we call her Rory.

Dont go with what anyone else likes. Because any name that you pick there will be someone who doesnt like it. If thats the one that your settled on then pick it. Besides its gonna be your daughters name not your moms. Your mom can pick a little knickname that she likes instead.

Just keep the names you decide on to yourself until the baby is born...that way you won`t hear anything negative about the name you pick (hopefully no one would be rude enough to say anything after she was born!)

I agree with April! What ever name you 2 agree on should be it! Who cares what anyone else thinks, when they meet your baby they will love them and their name! I love the name Sunny for my baby girl on the way and I don`t care what anyone else thinks lol!

I am in the same boat. I`m 30 weeks preg and am sick of looking, Still havnt found the one yet, I like some ....hubby doesnt like them. the ones he likes I dont. I swear this baby is going to have no name.

hehe well thank you! Yes we have 1 other child.. my son, which I do know what u mean about NOT EVER agreeing! its nearly impossible, so this is a miracle. With my son I said U know what lets just freakn name him AFTER YOU! So thats what we did : ) Anthony Jr. And Im sure my family didnt really care for the name anthony, but now they couldnt love him ANY more.. : ) I think ur right..my mom will get over it when the time comes.. and thank u i DO think its a pretty name too : ) We just dont know what we would call her for short
