Some have speech delays, gross or fine motor delay, social delay and cognitive delay. Here in Canada we have different programs to help these children. Some need to go see the professionals, some professionals will come in your home and do therapy with your child. It`s all to get your child at the levels that he/she should be at. Some need more therapy then others, all depending on the child.
2boysandalil lady (1036.7 days ago) My son is 2 1/2 and he has a speech delay. A speech pathologist has been coming out to our home once a week for almost a year and he is making so much progress. I think its a great tool to help. Although all kids develop and reach mild stones at a different pace and thats okay. I`ve just used it as a learning tool for myself also to work with him and increase his speech and improve his phonics.
nmck (1036.8 days ago) It`s about intervening early if there is any delay or developmental issues with a child age 0-36 months. It is usually state funded, and under the umbrella of mental health. Early intervention can prevent future problems. The earlier a baby who has problems are identified and worked with, the less likely they are to have lasting problems.
My son was 10 weeks early, so he automatically qualified for EI services. He is doing very well, and he gets physical therapy once a week in our home. We love it!!
