angie2008 (1026.5 days ago) i got our crib from baby depot and it was super super cheap. i looked at ones at walmart and BRU too before I ran into the deal at baby depot. My lo is 5 months old and I would say as long as the crib is solid wood and has good reviews online go for a cheaper one. How long really is your lo going to use a crib?? Even with a convertible (which i have too) you may want to get the baby a twin size bed to make an easier adjustment from toddler bed to that. There are many more places in which to spend the money and many unexpected things you will need once the baby arrives no matter how prepared you think you are. Maybe try target.com, they have some really nice affordable ones there.
jamie (1026.6 days ago) Every cheap crib I have bought under 150.00 has fell apart in about 12 months....Dont waste you time or money, get the nice one
3blessings (1026.9 days ago) My daughter`s crib cost around $500 and I got it anyways. Basically what I did was go around to all the cribs and shake it a little bit to see how sturdy and stable it was. The one that I loved just seemed to not shake as much and seemed the most solid. So I don`t regret my purchase ata ll. But now we have a second baby coming and they will be sharing a room. Now I`m gonna go out and buy the same crib again! Whatever! The only good thing about buying in sets is that they will always have it, plus you can buy rails to make the beds convert to a toddler bed, then a full size bed. So it`s better to splurge a little now then to have to shell out $ later for a toddler bed and then a full size frame later!!!
Juniper (1026.9 days ago) In my opinion.. hardly any money needs to be spent on nursery furniture.. it`s more for the parents than the kids anyway. I got a cheap end of line crib.. really basic pine one (was about 50 euros I think) and it is hardly used as I co-sleep now lol... and his changing table is a changing mat on top of his chest of drawers...
Everyone does what they want and feels is right for them.. but seeing that someone spent 3000 dollars on nursery stuff makes my eyes pop out lol.. but we`re obviously not on the same income... 3000 dollars means a lot to us..
GavinsMum (1026.9 days ago) i bought my crib from walmart it was $200 bucks and it came with the crib, dresser and changing table that all match. Mine is cherry so it looks awesome... everybody that sees my set thinks i paid MUCH MUCH more then i actually did. I think they are beautiful and im glad i didnt spend thousands of dollar on one. Oh and the crib changes into a daybed( big boy bed) but it doesnt turn into a twin or queen like some others do. But we have my old bed from when i was little. Anyway well worth the price. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10980049
harimaudahan (1026.9 days ago) My brother gave me the crib he used for his sons, its just a cheapo walmart crib, but its lasted through 3 babes now and is still real sturdy and nice enough. Its going on babe number 4 in just a few short months. I kind of want a nicer crib this time around, but would much rather spend the money on other things that we need, like a new swing and carseat/stroller combo.
nmck (1026.9 days ago) I imagined my son`s nursery with a white crib and changer and colored walls. Around 4 months preggo, my older brother called and offered me their nursery furniture as their youngest was moving up to a big girl bed. I thought about it for about a week and decided I would be foolish to go out and spend a few hundred dollars on furniture b/c I wanted white and they were offering me a perfectly good light wood one. We ended up using their nursery furniture, and I am very glad we were able to save the money!!
Also...convertible cribs are not worth the extra $ b/c a toddler bed can be bought very inexpensively, and you can always get by with just a bed frame when moving to a real bed. Good luck!
armymom (1027.2 days ago) i bought all my sons furniture used off craigslist and his room came together very cute.. i painted an old dresser i got for $30 and use it as a changing table. His crib was $50 and practically new since the previous owner co-slept with her Lo till toddlerhood. I say look for good deals and go the cheaper route.
karenbg (1027.2 days ago) we bought the graco lauren convertible crib for about 150 and love it
amygirl22 (1027.3 days ago) We bought a 3-in-1 crib w/ a changer/dresser combo attached. We got it from baby depot for $349 and the mattress was $40 from Walmart. Baby depot is really good and they have lay-away if you need it.
hotpotaaaaato (1027.3 days ago) My crib was given to me from someone I trust, and I was thankful but really wanted a convertible crib at the time. I`m so glad I didn`t get one! My oldest daughter (3) is now in a toddler bed for the moment and now have another baby girl in the crib... Oldest asked if baby could sleep in her room and so they`ve been sharing a room since her birth. Now we`re going to buy Bunk beds that also seperate into 2 beautiful twin beds so the girls can share a room if they want, or have their beds in their own rooms... if I had bought a convertible crib we wouldn`t have had the option to stack their beds if they want to share! I say get the cheaper one... then when they get older get a nice bed that will last until they move out! Good luck.
JMendez (1027.3 days ago) If it`s your first child you always want the best, nicest, most expensive things. But.....that`s not always the way to go. I got a walmart crib and accessories and trust me, it was the way to go. I was a stay at home mom for a while and that extra $$ came in handy, plus I still have the crib and my daughter is 3 1/2 now. Crib`s fine, spent a little and got a lot out of it.
megandgrace (1027.3 days ago) I borrowed a crib and changing table from family because i would really only be using them for about 2 years and i wouldnt need them. I know there are convertible cribs but i figured that its not the furniture in their room that matters, its having that extra couple hundred dollars saved up in a college fund when it is really needed!!
Khloes Mommy (1027.3 days ago) Sorry I disagree. I think your feelings will change once baby is here. I wanted the best of everything for my DD before she was born and now realize that a lot of that money could have been better spent. JMO hope it helps :)
lisamarie8503 (1027.3 days ago) My Crib/changing table and armoir were $3000 together. If you can afford it, go for the nicer ones....they are worth it!
