leeseeweesee (1014.6 days ago) i would go, just make sure to bring hand sanitizers, keep sanitizing your hands and try not to let your daughter touch much that you have not sanitized, bring along like clorox wipes and sanitize everything around you that you will touch and you will be just fine!
angie2008 (1022.4 days ago) I agree with amy, maybe a mask on the plane but i wouldn`t worry as long as you know there aren`t any coming from a flight from mexico.
phooey (1022.5 days ago) Personally, I wouldn`t go. Why chance it? I`m a scaredy cat though!
missyv28 (pink) (1022.5 days ago) What makes it unique is that it`s a new strain. It`s not killing healthy ppl. The only confirmed deaths besides the toddler (who has a weakened immune system because they are a toddler) are 7 ppl in Mexico and they died because Mexico doesn`t have the health infastructure to combat a illness like this. The news is reporting 150 deaths in Mexico but that`s all BS...they are also combating a pneumonia type disease so out of 150 ppl dying only 7 were confirmed swine flu deaths and the others were related to this other disease or both...but on another note because you have such a young child I wouldn't go. This disease is also airborne just like the regular flu.
pc (1022.6 days ago) I wouldn`t go due to the air trapped in the planes, it`s filthy. If you do go, I`d strongly encourage you and your baby to wear a mask.
soon2be3 (1022.7 days ago) I don`t think you are neccessarly over-reacting however when I looked up information about the Swine Flu on the Center for Disease Control`s website...this is the information I read about the common flu and the amount of people who get it yearly and then the numbers that die. I don`t want to say the media is sensationalizing this, but it is getting so much attention, whereas the regular flu`s numbers are staggering and they aren`t getting as much attention.
What is Influenza (Also Called Flu)?
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccination each year.
Every year in the United States, on average:
5% to 20% of the population gets the flu;
more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and
about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.
Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), are at high risk for serious flu complications.
STCT (1022.7 days ago) I don`t plan on going unitl May 14 so I guess I`m also wondering if I should just book the flight and if it get`s worse I`ll just change the date for a later time. GOSH I`m lossing my mind... Thanks ladies, I just want to see what you all would do.
~amy~ (1022.7 days ago) maybe just get your LO a mask to wear on the plane.
